TOM DEGAN'S RIGHT WING MANIFESTO

I'm sorry, folks, but I've gone over to the other side. Let's face it: There's a helluva lot more cash to be made there. Listen, I'm not stupid! If there's a buck to be made, I'm gonna make it. As my friend Bob Miller just reminded me on my Facebook page: "It's easier to argue that side. You don't need any facts....just instill fear." Damned right, Mr. Bob! Why the hell didn't I think of this years ago? Just think of all those nasty hours I'll save by not having to do a bit of research! I think I'm going to go out now and join a country club - white Christians only of course!

I am
now a "birther". I now unabashedly question the geography of where the president was born, Dag nap it! If it's good enough for Sarah Palin and Donald Trump, it's good enough for me!

This evil, subversive plot has been in the making for damned near a half-century! By all evidence, since the moment of Obama's birth! Here is a question that all good and decent Americans should demand an immediate answer to: Was the newspaper, the Honolulu Advertiser, in on the scheme when they printed little Barack's bogus birth announcement on August 9, 1961? Just where the hell does that paper lean editorially? To the hard Left, I strongly suspect. Wouldn't that just figure!

The NAACP, in collusion with the American Communist Party, Democracy NOW and Ed Asner, concocted this insidious plot deep in the basement of Noam Chomsky's home in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the midst of a week-long peyote mushroom binge. The elevation of this dangerous and subversive man to the highest office in this grand and glorious land of ours is only the first step in their dastardly plan. Their next objective will be to force our daughters - our little personifications of patriotism and purity - to court and co-mingle with NEGROES.

OH, THE HUMANITY!

Before very long our children - your children - will be physically forced to memorize verbatim whole chapters of James Baldwin's "Native Son" and "The Autobiography Of Malcolm X". Trust me, it's only a matter of time.

They must be stopped. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the country that we all hold so dear to our freedom-loving hearts. America is falling; victimized by forces who would put a foreign-born A-Rab in the seat that was once held by the sainted Ronald Reagan - RONALD REAGAN, I TELLS YA!

My friends, now is not the time for the faint-of-heart. It is a time for boldness and stoutness of mind and spirit. Only our collective intestinal fortitude will defeat the Liberal cabal - those nattering nabobs of negativism - who would burn our beloved country down. The time has come to give America back to the real Americans. My fellow citizens, you ignore me at your own peril....

And one more thing we must never ever forget: Barack and Michelle Obama named their two daughters, "Sasha" and "Malia". What's up with that???

But seriously, folks....

Timothy Geithner
Secretary of the Treasury, LMAO ROFL

Wikipedia
At the Senate confirmation hearings, it was revealed that Geithner had not paid $35,000 in self-employment taxes for the years 2001–2004. The International Monetary Fund (IMF), an international agency and his employer during the time in question, did not withhold FICA taxes, but instead reimbursed the usual employer responsibility of 50% of these taxes to employees who were subject to the taxes. Geithner had received the reimbursements, and paid the amounts received to the government, but had not paid the other 50% which would normally have been withheld from his pay. This failure to pay was noted during a 2006 audit by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), in which Geithner was assessed additional taxes of $14,847 for the 2003 and 2004 tax years. The statute of limitations had expired for 2001 and 2002, and Geithner did not file amended returns or pay the additional amounts due for those years until after Obama expressed his intent to nominate Geithner to be Secretary of the Treasury. He also deducted the cost of his children's sleep-away camp as a dependent care expense, when only expenses for day care are eligible for the deduction. Geithner subsequently paid the IRS the additional taxes owed, and was charged $15,000 interest, but was not fined for late payment.
In a statement to the Senate Finance Committee, Geithner called the tax issues "careless", "avoidable" and "unintentional" errors, and he said he wanted to "apologize to the committee for putting you in the position of having to spend so much time on these issues". Geithner testified that he used TurboTax to prepare his 2001 return, but that the tax errors were his own responsibility. The Obama campaign stated that Geithner was advised by his accountant that he did not owe any taxes beyond those assessed by the IRS following the 2006 audit. Geithner said at the hearing that he had always believed he was an employee, not a self-employed contractor, while serving at the IMF.

Investing in America's future?

The U.S. government is paying to upgrade outdated Mexican trucks that hemorrhage illegal amounts of exhaust on their trips north to deliver merchandise... The Mexican trucks enter the U.S. under a 17-year-old international trade pact known as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and they’ve created an air pollution crisis. The air quality in border towns has been especially impacted by the exorbitant levels of exhaust released by the Mexican trucks, which also fail to meet American safety standards.

Since the Mexican truckers have no intention of fixing the problem, Uncle Sam has stepped in to save the environment. U.S. taxpayers have picked up the cost to replace old mufflers on dozens of trucks and many more are scheduled to be upgraded by the middle of this year. The unbelievable story was reported this week by an Arizona newspaper that says replacing the old mufflers with new catalytic converters will reduce harmful diesel emissions by up to 30%.

...the money is actually coming from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the same bloated federal agency that’s dedicated millions to “environmental justice” programs that help minorities get green. Under that brilliant EPA project, leftwing groups get federal dollars to teach black, Latino and indigenous folks how to recycle, reduce carbon emissions and participate in “green jobs” training.

...EPA grants have [already] upgraded 55 Mexican trucks and many more will be enhanced this year. Each truck costs U.S. taxpayers about $1,600. The feds justify the expenditure by claiming that it will improve air quality on both sides of the border... [Of course,] U.S. truck drivers are required to have the type of converters that Mexicans are getting from the American government, though they must pay for theirs. For years, the idea of Mexican trucks entering the U.S. under NAFTA has been a contentious issue because they follow the notoriously dismal safety standards of a third-world country.

In fact, a few years ago the Department of Transportation’s Inspector General determined that Mexican trucks that regularly travel throughout American highways are rarely checked for safety by U.S. authorities despite a provision requiring it. Rules requiring that every Mexican truck undergo a thorough safety compliance check and that every driver has a valid license and is proficient in English have been virtually ignored, according to the IG’s findings.

As it relates to this blog, this one brings back memories. When I was in college, I was very focused on getting A's. I decided to take a group of US History classes for lib arts electives. I was amazed at how left wing crazy the professors were. They make you seem like Milton Freidman. Ranting about pay, ceos, junk bonds, unions, taxes, etc.
After I had written my first paper, one that I had thought was well researched and written, I received a C (I think). So after that, I realized if my grade was important I had to write to my audience. I then treated my history classes as fiction/creative writing courses and received A's. My papers sounded like your rants. At graduation, I saw one of the professors that I had for two history courses. He told me I was a great student. I told him my secret was creating an argument that made sense and then writing papers with the opposite logic. I don't think he liked me after that.
Your writing sample here is a basis for hope. Maybe you have been using my college logic all along. Or maybe your more rational subliminal mind is trying to escape.

Wait to see where inflation and unemployment are going to be at the time of the upcoming economic collapse. There were many factors that contributed to the Carter era economy one of them being the end of the war economy. There were more equitable solutions to revive the economy in the 1980s than the fleecing of WE THE PEOPLES' wealth to the into the hands of 1% of the population. Back before the outright oppression began, change was possible. To prevent any change in favor of the poor and working class ( you know the people who actually keep the country running )steps were taken to weaken the position of such people resulting in the sad mess we have today. How is allowing Social Security to become insolvent going to help? The only two general solutions are to increase its funding through income tax or to decrease the payouts. The baby boom generation is about to hit it like a swarm of locusts. The GAO (not mean Republicans) is saying it is on the path to insolvency – that is simple fact. In the previous tax discussion, I laid out facts. Raising the marginal tax rate (especially in a bad economy) does not typically raise the tax revenue – tax revenue as % of GDP has been a fairly steady number over the past decades despite varying economies and tax rates. Quit assuming conservatives are all evil money-mongers. I am not. I support a reasonable welfare system. I want those who cannot provide for themselves to have access to food, shelter, and medical care at my expense. At the same time, I don’t want socialists to destroy the free market system that has provide us with the wealth to supply these needs. You cannot fleece the rich without hurting the economy – regardless of their motives. That’s just how it works – sorry. And, by the way, I’m not a wealthy guy so fleecing them won’t affect me. It’s like pulling the engine out of your car to increase your gas mileage – insanity.

At 12:32 PM, Blogger Ellis D., Esq. said...

Harley, they take the engine out the car anyway by sending it overseas. The rich do not use their wealth to improve society, they use it for only their own benefit. So asking them for a more generous contribution is totally reasonable. Also raising the minimum wage to a level that will allow a full time worker to work a 40 hr. week and earn enough to reach the poverty level would be a help to folks too. Unless those folks are expected to work 2 or 3 full time jobs to get their bills paid ??

Would the SS Trust Fund be in this predicament if the surpluses had not been skimmed by every President since Reagan? I'll stop here for now and await your reply.

I agree - yes - it has been skimmed. Not just by presidents - by ALL of them in DC. In fact, by law, they must take the trust fund revenue and "invest" it in US Treasury securities, which they spend. And, whether they skim it or not, the country would be in the same situation - broke - because they spend all of our money foolishly. And, they DO fund it by means other than I proposed. As you stated, they BORROW from us to fund it. I wish there was a silver bullet, but when you need to payout more than you take in, my previous choices are it. In essence, what they have done is to preemptively and covertly tax us, our kids and grandkids largely without our consent.

As for the private financial markets - you mean the same ones WE just bailed out? Not sure I trust them either.

It's all fundamental. You can't spend more than you make. It IS that simple.

Spending only what you have should be America's National Motto but as long as Lobbyists run the congress the status quo shall prevail; take from the people, funnel to the corporations, defer the debt and the blame for rising deficits and pass the whole mess to our kids who will do the same destructive behavior as their parents because that is there only option when dealing with the entrenched bureaucracy.

Social security is not insolvent. Social security is not paid for by income taxes it is paid for by the payroll tax. The payroll tax is paid for income up to $150,000, income beyond that is not subjected to the social security. Eliminating the payroll tax cap and raising the rate to 7% permanently make social security solvent.

And..

Raising the marginal tax rate (especially in a bad economy) does not typically raise the tax revenue is patently nonsense. Raising the marginal tax rate increases revenue. Right now the federal tax burden is the lowest it's been in 60 years.

Reasonable, or reasonable person - Ordinary, prudent person who normally exercises due care while avoiding extremes of both audacity and caution. The court systems and American businesses have been using this simple definition since the beginning of stare decisis. Why is it that you are having so much trouble grasping the concept of reasonable, Anonymous? Any amount of money that would make a reasonable person, as described here, take a step back and say "Outrageous!" should be deemed unreasonable. That is the standard that the court systems use for reasonableness and outrageous conduct. Don't believe me? Look it up.

Laneman,

I didn’t say SS was insolvent. I said “how would ALLOWING Social Security to BECOME insolvent help”. If left alone, it certainly will become insolvent. Not because of tax issues but because of demographic and social issues. Large #’s of baby boomers + declining birth rates since the 60’s = SS insolvency. It will be in trouble in 15-20 years and insolvent in 25-30 if nothing is done. Read the GAO’s own reports. And so, I said you either raise taxes or you cut benefits. What part of that did you have a problem with?

On the semantic point of “income” vs. “payroll” tax - you win. Point ceded. Not sure I see the significance in making the distinction, but duly noted.

This may be my last post, though. I can live just fine without a computer and internet service. It’s not reasonable that I continue to enjoy them. I’m going to be making a list of assets and financial holdings for Ellis’ review so he can set my house in order.

MM,
WHY cant you and Ellis tell us what level of income makes a person rich? $150,000 a year per family member, $25,000 per family member? What is the level?
For those who always want to increase taxes on the rich, I find it interesting they can not define what rich is!
Regardless what the courts say about terms, I want to know what those who call for increasing taxes on the "rich" define as rich, in dollar amount. Not in some abstract terms, but in numbers like the IRS uses to figure out what part of your income you owe them.

I am starting to feel like those who want to increase taxes on the rich can't define what rich is but they know it when they see it.

Here is something else that needs to considered.
Even if federal income taxes were increased to 51% on every person (a Corporation is a person) in the US, the money raised would still fall short of removing our deficit by $700 billion this year.

So how high should taxes be raised on everyone to pay off our debit and to keep spending level as they are today?
After all if you can't define what rich is how can you say the rich need to pay more?

Perhaps the answer to how much income tax is appropriate for an individual lies in the Percentage of NET Income one pays for Necessities. (Food,Clothing, Shelter & Health care)

A sliding scale can be developed. If the individuals Percentage of NET Income one pays for Necessities is between 30 - 100% no additional Income Tax is due ... from 20 - 30% a tax Rate of 15% etc and when one gets to 0 - 5% a 25% Income Tax is applicable. (This is a framework, the numbers aren't scientific but off the top of my head)

Also, I didn't tell you to go to Mexico. I told a Mexican to go to Mexico. Something akin to telling a certain world leader to go to Kenya.

All the best,

Boltok, are you talking about one of the 11+ unobservable dimensions that are only calculable by math and exist only to balance out M theory and are curled up into space? Are you saying God and Jesus live in one of those? How did they get there? How did they defy all of the laws of physics and traverse into one of those unobservable, theoretical dimensions curled into space that no other entity can traverse into? Magic? Please do not answer my questions as they are all rhetorical.

Using your concept of a cost the living as the base for determining how much federal income tax to pay is interesting.
"(Perhaps the answer to how much income tax is appropriate for an individual lies in the Percentage of NET Income one pays for Necessities. (Food,Clothing, Shelter & Health care)"
Isn't that is what we use now? And Mr. Obama wants to remove tax deductions for the "rich" but not for others.
You still have the basic problem of what do you define as "rich" and how much of their income should be taken from them in the form of federal income taxes? If EVERYONES income was taxed from them up to 51% and there would still be a $700 billion debt, how would increasing taxes on the top 2% earners in American do anything in the way of reducing the debt? It only makes those who envy or hate the rich feel better, it doesn't impact the debt in any meaningful way.

Time for progressives to wake up to reality that they have been sold a class war on the "rich" (who they cant define) as the way of paying for the social programs that fail every time and yet are rewarded with more tax dollars in the next years budget. Think about 51% of all Americans income given to the federal government and we would still have a $700 billion debt.
Only Special Ed Schultz could support this logic.

The share of the population that is working fell to its lowest level last year since women started entering the workforce in large numbers three decades ago, a USA TODAY analysis finds.

Only 45.4% of Americans had jobs in 2010, the lowest rate since 1983 and down from a peak of 49.3% in 2000. Last year, just 66.8% of men had jobs, the lowest on record.

The bad economy, an aging population and a plateau in women working are contributing to changes that pose serious challenges for financing the nation’s social programs."
Only one way to fix this, raise taxes and increase the national debt?
Please

You slacker. Don't you know a good progressive's work is never done.

I, however, make no such claim. So, in good conscience, I am done antagonizing for today.

I do believe in Darwin, in that I believe in the survival of the fittest to some degree. But here is how it plays out with liberals. If you mention Christ on this side of the aisle, they will bring up Darwin. If you then say, "OK, I believe in Darwin's survival of the fittest," they will then say you should be more Christ-like in your giving.

You know what? I do think people want to give. I think they're getting sick of propping up losers. And I think we've reached a point in history where we have to separate those who break our hearts and deserve it and those who are just screw-ups. This is the Serengeti plain. If somebody is going to perpetually exhibit a limp, they're going to get fed on. That's the vigorish of life. They're going to have to buck up to that bar. That's the way life works.

The "Coke brothers"?

Gee, I'm not sure I know them. Do the "Coke" brothers go by Classic and Diet (among their closest friends, of course)?

I say, old bean, am I the only sod paying attention here? While you sad little Colonials quibble among yourselves over the obvious merits of democracy over Republicanism, I shall add a bit of absolute truth to your commentary.

It reactivated fond memories to see the photo of you at the Albert Memorial across from the Albert Hall. And we all KNOW how many holes it takes to fill that place, don't we?

Carry on, dear chap. Time for this geezer to have a light and bitter whilst the steak and kidney pie warms.

Actually JG, classic was and is always coca cola, while diet is just coke. Same company I guess. I always preferred the taste of Diet Pepsi until the Diet cherry Pepsi came out, and then Diet cherry Dr. Pepper came out and forever upped the standards of all diet drinks. Diet Dew is rad too. It's just fun to say "Dew me," when you want some one to grab you a coke.

I'm so excited to see how the trolls spin this comment as an attack against me.

To Anonymous, the racist piece of shit that linked to my account and posted the previous racist, dark meat comment to make it look like I posted it: I hope you are really proud of yourself for finally figuring out that you can do that. How many years of fooling around in blogger did it take for you to figure that out? What's next Anonymous? HTML? A GED?

For the record, I'm a vegetarian.
