Throw Junior under the Bus
"This was a meeting to get information on an opponent, totally legal and done all the time in politics - and it went nowhere. I did not know about it!”
As tweeted by the First Twit
Trump admits collusion. In the next breath he says, "Collusion is not a crime".
FUN FACT: Conspiring with agents of a hostile foreign government to subvert the results of a national election is, indeed, a crime. In fact, it's a felony. It's days such as this that make the times in which we live so delightfully and deliciously weird. Can I get a witness, sisters and brothers?
You've got to hand it to those Trump men. "Stable geniuses" they're not - and we'll just leave it at that.
What the hell is going on here? Why on earth would the Donald stupidly go on Twitter and admit that, yes, his "wonderful son" Donald Jr. did, in fact, meet with operatives of the Putin government inside of Trump Tower in June of 2016 in order to obtain intelligence ("dirt") on Hillary Clinton, but that it was merely politics as usual and that everybody does it. Nothing to see here, folks! Break it up, the show's over! Everybody just move along!
Why would he do something that completely reckless? I have a theory if you want to hear it. I believe that - very possibly - Team Trump has a plant deep inside the Mueller probe. Bob Mueller and Company have probably unearthed incontrovertible evidence to the fact that the meeting in question was more than collusion; it was a conspiracy of the naughtiest sort. What Trump is trying to do here is come out ahead of Mueller's final report. That way, Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be able to announce to the ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE inside Press Briefing Room:
"But the president made that announcement weeks ago. And don't you remember what he also said? Collusion is not a crime!"
That, in my opinion, is what is happening. Stay tuned.
If I'm smart enough to figure this out, you can bet the farm that Robert Mueller is, too. MEMO TO THE PREZ: You have the right to remain silent. Just a suggestion.
And speaking of Sarah Sanders, I am light years past the point of feeling any contempt for her; in fact, I feel sorry for the poor gal. At a White House Correspondents dinner not long ago, a "comedian" got up on the podium and made some very regrettable remarks about her looks. It wasn't funny. It was cruel. My sympathy for her is also mired in the fact that she took this gig with the obvious hope that it would lead to bigger and brighter things in her future. She apparently didn't know what she was getting herself into. I never thought I would live to see the dawning of the day where Ron Ziegler, Nixon's hapless press secretary, would end up looking like Edward R. Murrow. When given the chance to say that the press is not "the enemy" she just couldn't bring herself to do it. No national media outlet will be willing to go within a thousand feet of her when she eventually steps out into the private sector - except possibly the Breitbart crowd. The fact of the matter is, when this nightmare is finally over, Sarah will be in about as much demand as Josef Goebbels would have been had he not ended it all in der fuehrer's bunker in May of 1945. Strange days indeed.
`
Poor Junior is obviously in it deep. The kindest thing that is being said of the Trump Boys these days is that they were all too stupid to even understand that they were committing felonies. That is actually a valid argument. What other explanation could there possibly be for Donald Trump to admit to Lester Holt - in front of a nationwide television audience of several million people - that he obstructed justice by firing James Comey early in his administration?
We've got to finally wake up and face some serious facts here, kids: the president of the United States just isn't intelligent enough to tackle the job. In spite of everything, it's almost pathetic when you take into consideration that a full forty percent of the American people are naïve enough to still be supporting the guy. That's pretty amusing when you get right down to it, don'cha think?

I read this one in two days. It involves the final year in the life of Franklin Roosevelt and the herculean effort he made to defeat Hitler and the axis while his life was ebbing away.
From Franklin Delano Roosevelt to Donald Fucking Trump. America has fallen pretty far.
AFTERTHOUGHT:
Wayne LaPierre says the NRA is nearly bankrupt. Be sure to send him your "thoughts and prayers".

Trump really inspires loyalty doesn't he?
I recall a time when conservatives preached "Personal responsibility", but then I remember when they preached "Family values" as well.
I guess they always have been the "Do as I say, not as I do" party.
I guess they always have been the "Do as I say, not as I do" party.
This is why I've called their ideology the Cult of Right-wing Authoritarian Personalities.
They are nothing but CRAP.
