Jared's Got a Problem

A Choirboy on Opioids
`
“He’s now president for life.
Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot someday.”
`
Donald Trump on Chinese President Xi Jinping
`
He's thinking about it. Count on it.
`
Every day, the scope of this disgusting administration's mind-bending corruption becomes even more obvious and immense. It really is an incredible time we're living in. We've had corrupt administrations in the past: Nixon's contempt of the rule of law is legendary; more members of the Reagan administration went to prison than any other in the history of Idiot Nation. Every administration going all the way back to Warren G. Harding's (Remember Teapot Dome?) had some levels of crookedness. But the administration of Donald Trump is something else all together. We're barely a year into this catastrophic fiasco and the wheels are coming off. It really is an extraordinary thing to bare witness to.

It was with a great deal of skepticism that the people who make their names commenting on the train-wreck of American politics greeted the news last year that Donald Trump's son-in-law would be serving as "senior advisor" to the new president. It was believed - in some circles at least - that Jared and his wife, Trump's daughter Ivanka, would act as "moderating" influences over the obviously unstable president. If they have been at all successful in their respective jobs, it makes one tremble to think how unhinged the Trump White House would be by this time. When challenged about the charges of nepotism, Trump's apologists said that since the two were serving in an unpaid capacity, it wasn't really nepotism - at least not technically. And besides, they whined, JFK hired his younger brother as Attorney General. My only response to that one is that Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump together aren't worth one tenth of a Bobby Kennedy. End of argument.

Bob Mueller
Now we are learning that within days of the nation of Qutar turning down a request that they invest many millions of dollars in a building owned by the Kushner family's real estate company in merrie olde Manhattan, Jared insisted that Trump support a blockade of Qutar that was being enforced by Saudi Arabia. Apparently, most of the administration and everyone in the state department (including Secretary of State Rex Tillerson) were against the support of the blockade. There was absolutely no rhyme or reason to it. Qutar is a country that the United States has maintained good relations with for many years. Although it might be hard to prove, it's obvious that Jared was getting even with the leaders of Qutar for not investing in his financially troubled property at 666 Fifth Avenue. In essence, the spoiled little freak had a temper tantrum. This is precisely the reason we have conflict-of-interest laws on the books. His sweet revenge might have given him pleasure at the time, but it has now exploded in his face. Jared could be in one shitload of trouble. I'm sure he has a sinking feeling knowing that Robert Mueller is looking into his nefarious dealings at this hour. Life is good.

Ask yourself the following question: Would Kushner have supported the blockade had Qutar coughed up the cash? I'm not naïve enough to believe that he would have. Why was he virtually alone in supporting it? I was born very early in the morning but it wasn't this morning. This is as bad as it's ever going to get, folks. And the amazing thing is that this is only the proverbial tip of the iceberg. If Watergate was a paper cut, this is  bloodbath. I was just wondering how many people out there still feel - deep in their hearts - that sending these corrupt buffoons to the White House was a good idea. The fact that over one/third of the citizens of this country still support the administration of Donald Trump is as troubling a fact as I've ever encountered. It's no wonder our allies are scratching their heads today.

I just had a beautiful fantasy. Wouldn't it be a hoot if Mueller could make a plea deal with little Jared and get him to testify against his father-in-law? Can you even imagine how awkward something like that would make Thanksgiving family dinner at Trump Tower next November? That would certainly put poor Ivanka in an untenable situation.

I've always gotten the notion that Donald Trump has always enjoyed being Donald Trump. Since the man has never been one to take bows in the self-awareness department, it's easy to believe that this would be so. I imagine that he's not having a whole lot of fun these days. By all accounts, the president has become completely unhinged in recent months, more unhinged than he already was - which was obvious to anyone who bothered to pay attention to the campaign of 2016. This is ending catastrophically; and while it's as interesting as any unfolding political scandal in American history, it does not bode well for the American people, and more importantly, for their children.

If you voted for this fool you'll deserve everything that happens to you. It's your kids I feel sorry for - not you. Not at all.

Not to depress you any more than you already are (and rightfully so) there is an old saying, "You ain't seen nothing yet!"

I was hoping, before I died, that I would see rational, liberal government that actually served the people come back to America, but I guess that died with FDR and LBJ. Although many would say LBJ had Trump traits of dictatorial insanity.

I couldn't believe the people voted for Nixon, especially the second time, when the Watergate crooks had been tied to the White House before the 1972 election along with all Nixon's lies about the war, bombings, and ending the draft; not to mention his "Red" baiting and deception to the nation in the 1940's and 1950's. I remember his "Checkers" speech when he claimed it was all about a little dog. America swallowed that and he was so popular Ike had no other VP choice than Nixon.

I couldn't believe Bush Jr. was elected the second time when by then we knew his story about "mushroom clouds" coming from Iraq was a lie, then he attack Iraq, which had nothing to do with 9/11; not to mention all the other lies his administration officials had been indited for. Of course he would just give pardons for those liars.

There are so many times the American people have swallowed the lies of politicians and then supported those lying politicians. Reagan is a good example and he is considered a "great" president.

As Bill Maher likes to say, and I agree, "Americans are stupid."

Then we create more lies to support our previous lies, that become the false history of a supposed great nation.

How do we stop idiot Americans from believing lies?

How do you stop an idiot like Toilet Paper from believing abortions (which have been around since the beginning of humans) are the cause of mass shootings with high tech weapons in the 21st century? Toilet Paper claims we had to defend ourselves against the Native Americans. The truth is just the opposite and Native Americans had no guns until the white man introduced guns to the Native American. The Native Americans understood immediately the superior killing power of guns and that was before repeating weapons were even invented. Who stole whose land? Who committed genocide against whose people? I wonder if these idiots even know that "scalping" was a white mans treachery that Native Americans learned just as they learned about guns. Then these idiots have the gall to claim our murderous ways are heavenly inspired as if any God would support slavery and mass murder. By the way Toilet Paper, George Washington had an army before the Constitution was even written, that's how he beat the British and civilian individuals were not running to the join his army with their guns, so what is this militia you claim was needed?

I can only hope our judicial system can stand up to the corruptness of a Trump administration, because it is our last refuge to stop such dictatorial evil.

Hitler was elected. Mussolini was elected to cheering crowds. Stalin was beloved by the Russian people. Americans cheered "shock and awe" and the world watched it on TV.

I cannot comprehend the decisions of my fellow Americans, nor do I swallow their ridiculous reasons for such actions.

Hoping my last comment was not published because of a simple oversight, but I comment at your pleasure.

People have different ways of surviving bad times. Some read, some get hobbies, some listen to music, and most just don't pay attention, on purpose. Like an ostrich sticking his head in the sand, some citizens just don't want to know what their elected officials do in their name.

So here's my treat for those who want to sit back, choose their own method of a mind altering aid and enjoy:

The brilliant mindset of the members of that elite American Electoral College voted for someone who'd 'enjoy rolling hand grenades under US government' - they got what they wanted, now we have to live with it.

Seriously Majormajor?! Nepotism wasn't involved with Chelsea. She had no role in the White House administration. Using your twisted logic, Melania shouldn't be in the White House for posing nude.

I'd be surprised if this country survives Trumpism. Remember MOST Americans were duped into believing Saddam was involved with 9-11 and al-Qaeda. Why wouldn't they be duped into thinking Trump is making America great?

Look at the remarks from con-servatives. They are true believers in their moral and intellectual superiority, all based on nothing but gullibility, arrogance, and confirmation bias.

As we watch the US circle the drain, this is clear.

The economic elites have overthrown what was intended to be a representative democratic republic.

The revolution is over. The Great Experiment has failed. Greed has won.

Ignorance is strength. Freedom is slavery. War is peace. Trump is president.

"Triumph of the Will: Part Zwei" plays out before us, as they chant, "USA! USA!" and "Lock her up!".

Undoubtedly, most are. There are still a few who get it, like you, Dave Dubya, Tom, and many others on this site who mostly choose to remain silent. As I've said several times here and on other blogs, we're in for the fight of our lives. Keep objecting to this president and everything he stands for. Persist to resist. It's our only chance out of this attempt to subvert and totally destroy our tattered democracy.

Thank you for your contributions.

Always the troll, aren't you Chuck?

I totally agree with Bill (at 10:11 PM). He's correct, and as usual you're all wet. I've come to expect this from you, though, and you know this.

The man's a prophet of our times -- no doubt. He understands the dangers associated with our corporate state, and sees the catalyst the demagogue in the White House has been and will continue to be.

Resist.

Paul, people thought Obama wanted to be a "dictator" and then voted for trump. Besides, if LBJ was at all "dictatorial" you'd have thought he'd at least have TRIED for a second term he would almost certainly have won.

And where did they find this Nunberg numbskull? Showing up drunk and high for a TV interview, claiming in the morning he'd tear up Mueller's subpoena in the morning and then saying he'll cooperate by afternoon? The guy is a lunatic!

"The federal government has been advising a beach town on the Jersey Shore on plans to build a pier and start a ferry service that would speed New Yorkers to the doorstep of a resort co-owned by Jared Kushner.

Kushner’s seaside resort sits right next to the proposed pier, which places the federal government in the awkward position of helping steer a project that would benefit Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser. Once the project is complete, a former city official said it would raise property values at the Kushner resort, which is currently selling 269 condos for as much as $1.9m each.

The corruption of the Trump family continues.
