Time has an funny way of slipping by, doesn't it? This is the 1000th piece I've composed on this site since I started it on June 6, 2006. I used to make a lot of comments under various articles on the left-leaning w website, Alternet. I would sign my name (no pseudonym) and my email address in case someone wanted to communicate. On that morning I received a note from a woman in Missouri who suggested that I start my own blog. Not being that computer savvy at the time (I've improved somewhat) I asked her how I could do it. She replied, "Go to Blogger.com, they'll walk you through it". I did. The rest is infamy.

Here are some recent observations:

1. The GOP's QAnon Crisis:

"QAnon is a disproved and discredited far right conspiracy theory alleging that a secret cabal of Satan-worshiping, cannibalistic pedophiles is running a global sex trafficking ring and plotting against former U.S. president Donald Trump. who has been fighting the cabal. According to U.S. prosecutors, Qanon is commonly referred to as a cult."

I don't think that it is really that much of a stretch of the imagination to conclude that the "party of Abraham Lincoln" has flipped its lid. These jokers are not relegated to the fringes of the GOP. On the last election day, two of its adherents were elected to congress. The time is long overdue that that party be consigned to the shit pile of history. Wishful thinking, I know.

2. Impeachment Revisited:

Two weeks from today, the former president of the United States will stand trial in the senate for inciting a bloody riot that cost five people their lives. This attempted coup d'etat is the worst presidential infraction since Andrew Jackson's horrific Trail of Tears (Look it up). Some are implying that impeaching a president who is no longer in office doesn't make any sense. In fact there is a precedent for it. In 1874, when Ulysses S. Grant's Secretary of War found out that he was about to be impeached by the House and Senate, he resigned his post in order to avoid the whole embarrassing debacle. He was impeached nonetheless.

Donald Trump needs to be held accountable for his crimes against the people of the United States. This is something that needs to be done as soon as humanly possible. If he stands acquitted when when this nightmare if finally behind us, the shame will be ours.

3. Oh, and speaking of Andrew Johnson....

By this time next year, his hideous mug will be wiped of our twenty dollar bill - to be replaced by the image of Harriet Tubman. Nice!

4. The New Normal:

For people like me who make their names commenting on the train-wreck of American politics, the age of Donald Trump was indeed a golden one. All of that craziness is behind us. Joe Biden is soooo boring - much in the same way that Barack Obama was soooo boring. Donald Trump was many things - "boring" was not one of them, but that's okay. After four long years of the complete insanity of the Trump regime, I think we could all use a little bit of well-earned boredom. Perhaps we might rely on Kamala Harris might raise a bit of ruckus every now and then.

5. Lennon Politically Corrected:

A couple of months ago the John Lennon estate, observing the fortieth anniversary of his passing, released a two-record-set of his most iconic recordings - newly remixed from the original multi-tracked, master tapes. To my great disappointment - in an obvious bow to political correctness, his greatest and most important recording, Woman is the Nigger of the world, was excluded from the collection. This is wrong in too many ways to count. When legendary activist Dick Gregory heard a low-fi demo of the song after it had just been written, he urged John to head to the studio pronto and put it out as a record. In 1972, it seemed, the only people offended by the track were a bunch of uptight white liberals.

Erasing our cultural history in order to appease certain sensibilities is always detrimental to freedom of expression. Despite the passage of nearly a half century, it is a song that still needs to be listened to and understood  - and enjoyed.

Woman is the nigger of the world.

Think about it.

Do something about it.

One thousand pieces in less than fifteen years. I never dreamed I could do it.

I would disagree that impeaching Trump is more imperative than getting all Americans vaccinated from the virus. The President needs to have his Cabinet and heads of departments in place to get that program going full steam. That includes monetary supplemental payments to Americans and other immediately needed resources.
Trump is out of office. He is no longer an immediate risk of further danger, or damage to America. We can impeach him at any time, but he must be impeached. A conviction of Trump in the Senate (which seems impossible) would not stop Tromp from running from federal office again, that would take a separate vote from the Senate. The Senate could ban Trump from ever holding federal office again, without impeaching him. I think Trump should be in jail, and New York has a much better possibility of doing that than the United States Senate. There is a rush to take care of Americans. We can take care of Trump later.

It's moot now. The Senate has voted 45-55 to proceed. The trial will start Feb. 9th at 1PM.
The radical right will be with us for a long time.
We need immediate relief from this pandemic and our ruined economy.
Also, leader Schumer stated that one provision of impeachment is a ban for life from federal office. A separate vote is not necessary, which makes the legal advice I read from multiple sources, wrong.

Reasons to "post" impeach Obama.

The illegally firing of an Inspector General to protect a sex predator

In his first year in office, Barack Obama illegally fired Gerald Walpin, the Inspector General for the Corporation for National and Community Service. Walpin’s only crime was that he was investigating Obama’s friend and donor, Kevin Johnson. Johnson had misused federal grant money for AmeriCorps by funneling it to his personal nonprofit group, paying for political activity, and using it to pay hush money to underage girls he’d sexually abused. After Walpin recommended charges against Johnson, Obama, in violation of federal law, fired him. An investigation by Congress into the illegal firing was met with stonewalling by the Obama White House, and the withholding of documents. The Obama White House also deliberately misled Congress about the reasons for the firing.

If breaking the law to protect a donor and ally who had misused federal grant money and sexually abused three underage girls doesn’t merit impeachment, what does? After all, Obama and his appointees misled and stonewalled Congress in an attempt to cover up his own illegal behavior.

His war on cops

Seeing as Democrats say that Trump’s rhetoric “incited an insurrection” at the U.S. Capitol as the primary reason for their second bogus impeachment, it’s more than fair to say that Obama should be equally held accountable for his rhetoric as president which inspired a war on cops, resulting in a spike in assassinations of police officers nationwide. As PJM’s Stephen Kruiser noted back in September, the Black Lives Matter movement may never have happened without Obama. His anti-police rhetoric began in the early months of his presidency when he blamed Cambridge police for a confrontation with an African-American Harvard professor despite not having seen all the facts. And the impact of Obama’s “leadership” on race relations was an absolute failure. According to Justice Department statistics, ambushes of police climbed 25 percent between 2008 to 2013 over the previous ten-year period.

In July 2016, after five police officers were murdered and nine others wounded in Dallas, Texas, William Johnson, the executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations, blamed Obama. “I think [the Obama administration’s] continued appeasements at the federal level with the Department of Justice, their appeasement of violent criminals, their refusal to condemn movements like Black Lives Matter, actively calling for the death of police officers, that type of thing, all the while blaming police for the problems in this country has led directly to the climate that has made Dallas possible.” Johnson added, “It’s a war on cops, and the Obama administration is the Neville Chamberlain of this war.”

Throughout his presidency, Obama helped promote the narrative that our system of justice is racist, even during his final days in office he used that bogus narrative to justify his record number of pardons and commutations of prison sentences.

Barack Obama has blood on his hands, and he must be held accountable.

Illegal treaties

Barack Obama illegally entered the United States into two treaties while in office, the Paris Climate Accords and the Iran Nuclear Deal. Both meet the definition of a treaty under the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties, which states that a treaty is “an international agreement concluded between [two or more] States in written form and governed by international law.”

Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of United States Constitution explains unambiguously how United States can enter treaties. It says that the president “shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two-thirds of the Senators present concur.”

But neither of those treaties were ever ratified by the U.S. Senate. Barack Obama knew that getting two-thirds of the Senate to ratify either would be impossible. So, rather than make the case for ratification of either, he simply pretended that they weren’t treaties at all, specifically avoiding referring to them as such.

Like all presidents, Obama took an oath to abide by the Constitution and blatant act to bypass the constitutional process for entering into treaties should never have gone unpunished.

The Sestak bribery scandal

Barack Obama violated at least four federal laws back in 2010, for offering then-congressman Joe Sestak (D-PA) a job in his administration in exchange for not challenging Arlen Specter for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. Specter had recently switched from the GOP to the Democratic Party, and that switch was contingent on support from Obama. Obama’s then-spokesman Robert Gibbs wouldn’t confirm or deny that any offer was made, but was never asked if Obama would resign after Sestak made his bombshell allegation, even after months of the Obama White House stonewalling a congressional investigation. Nor did they ask after the Obama White House finally admitted that Sestak was indeed offered a federal job to stay out of the election, but only after Sestak defeated Specter in the primary. The media was quick to accept the White House version of events, including the “everybody does it” excuse, and they accepted the White House claim that nothing improper happened. Even Republicans lost interest in pursuing the story after Sestak was defeated in the general election by Republican Pat Toomey. But bribery is a crime, and Barack Obama committed it. He must be held accountable

Neither the Iran Deal nor the Paris Accords are treaties. There were no consequences or binding conditions for US participation or withdrawal, under international law.

Racist lies:

“the Black Lives Matter movement may never have happened without Obama” (BLM was formed to protest the racist murder of Treyvon Martin)

“he blamed Cambridge police for a confrontation with an African-American Harvard professor despite not having seen all the facts.” (Obama had the police report and statements from Professor Gates. The cop escalated the situation AFTER Gates confirmed he was in his own home. The cop told Gates to “take it outside”, and then arrested him for being disorderly.)

“William Johnson, the executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations, blamed Obama” (Because that is what racists always did, and still do.) https://www.politifact.com/personalities/william-johnson/

“their appeasement of violent criminals, their refusal to condemn movements like Black Lives Matter, actively calling for the death of police officers, that type of thing, all the while blaming police for the problems in this country has led directly to the climate that has made Dallas possible.” Johnson added, “It’s a war on cops,” (ALL racist lies from a racist cop.)

Who else but another white racist would post all these evil racist lies?

This is why Vern/JTF/etc. dumps his crap anonymously. We know he's the racist doing this.

Reasons to "post" impeach Obama.

Rampant obstruction of justice

Obstruction of justice was the standard operating procedure in the Obama administration from day one. In August 2014, 47 of 73 inspectors general wrote an open letter to Congress informing them that the Obama administration was obstructing investigations by not giving them full access to the information they need to investigate properly. Such a letter was unprecedented, and the systemic corruption and obstruction of the inspectors general would have been considered an impeachable defense for almost any other president. That letter should have resulted in the appointment of a special counsel… but Attorney General Eric Holder, who famously called himself Obama’s wingman, wasn’t going to let that happen. Neither Holder or Loretta Lynch, Obama’s second attorney general, ever appointed a special counsel, despite ample times where one should have been appointed. Obama didn’t just appoint attorneys general to lead the Justice Department, he appointed protectors to keep himself from being held accountable for corruption. Such rampant obstruction of justice should have prompted impeachment hearings right then and there.

A new survey from Rasmussen Reports finds “only 36% of Likely U.S. Voters think it is a good idea to cancel the Keystone XL Pipeline that would transport oil from Canada to the U.S.” Just in case the new administration wants further evidence, another 60% of voters said they oppose halting construction because gas prices are likely to rise.

How do the American people feel regarding the country’s direction after just one week of a Biden* administration? Hold on to your race card: Yet another Rasmussen survey found only 21% approve. When asked whether the country was headed in the right direction, 72% said no. “A year ago at this time, 45% said the United States was heading in the right direction,” asserted Rasmussen. For comparison, it also pointed out, “This is the lowest number since President Trump was elected four years ago.

Biden*’s first Daily Presidential Tracking Poll put him into negative approval territory at -2. It has gotten worse. On Monday, he dropped to -4. Tuesday, he moved down again to -5. This trend is quite a feat. President Trump started at +2 and rose to +13 in the first days of his presidency.

Biden* has received very little negative coverage, with much of the corporate media applauding his early moves because they align with the liberal gentry’s priorities. However, even groups that endorsed him have indicated they are disappointed in his energy policy decisions and the Executive Order on gender identity. That has not stopped the flurry of executive actions, though. Yesterday was “equity day,” and President Biden signed additional deeply unpopular orders.

Perhaps that is why at the end of week one, only 22% of Americans felt confident that Biden* would unify the country.

April 2018, a commenter asked, “Now do we get to hang them ??” referring to former president Barack Obama and former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, KFile reported. In response, Greene did not denounce the suggestion of execution and instead wrote, “Stage is being set. Players are being put in place. We must be patient. This must be done perfectly or liberal judges would let them off.”

I wonder if New Green Deal lovers remember a 2017 report that accused former Vice President Al Gore, also a Democrat, of using significantly more electricity at his mansion per year than the average American?

The National Center for Public Policy Research said Gore’s electric bills from his Nashville home were “at least” 21 times higher than the average American household “because they only looked at the energy consumption at Gore’s Nashville home, not his other two houses,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“In one peak month, September last year, Gore’s power consumption at the Nashville home reached 34 times that of a typical American home,” THR added. “The study indicates that Gore’s 20-room, 10,070 square-foot mansion used nearly 231,000 kilowatt hours of electricity in the last 12 months compared with less than 11,000 for an average American house. One of his findings, Johnson told The Hollywood Reporter, is that the amount of electricity Gore uses to heat his pool each year could power the average U.S. home for six years.”

My bet is they never knew of it in the 1st place.

Spying on the media

The media loved Obama, but Obama didn’t love them back. In fact, Obama abused the Espionage Act to target reporters and their sources. Less than six months into Obama’s second term we learned that his Justice Department secretly obtained two months of phone records of AP reporters and editors. One consequence of this Obama administration spying was that longtime sources stopped talking to the Associated Press and other news organizations.

Obama’s Justice Department also secretly obtained then-Fox News reporter James Rosen’s phone records, tracked his movements, and read his emails while investigating possible leaks of classified information to Rosen for an article on North Korea’s nuclear program. Rosen was also threatened with jail time when the Obama Justice Department labeled him a “co-conspirator” with one of his sources who was charged with violating the Espionage Act of 1917 for leaking the information to Rosen. Another journalist, James Risen of the New York Times, was similarly treated as a co-conspirator with a government source indicted by the Obama administration under the Espionage Act. Risen was subpoenaed, and originally compelled to testify against one of his sources.

Trump got a lot of flak for calling the media “the enemy of the people,” but Barack Obama, despite the love he received from the media, abused his power to spy on them when they deigned to hold him accountable for something.
