Russiagate: THE CLIFF NOTES

Stephanie Ruhle
My newest journalistic crush is MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle. She's on at 9:00 every weekday morning and again at 11:00 on a program she co-hosts with Ali Velshi. Remember her name. This is a woman who is going to be around for a very long time. She calmly - and with as much good cheer as is humanly possible these days - reports what is now happening to this country in such a thoughtful and detailed way that even someone of below average intelligence is able to understand it with little or no effort. This morning on the later program, she explained, chapter and verse, the events of the Trump campaign's nefarious dealings with certain representatives of the Putin government - from the late summer of 2016 to just before the election. Here it is as she laid it out:

June 7: Trump and Clinton become the presumptive nominees for president.

June 9: Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner & campaign chair Paul Manafort meet with Russia lawyer.

June 9: Trump tweets about 33,000 missing emails.

July 18: Day one of GOP convention, Trump campaign changed the GOP platform to ensure that it didn't call for giving weapons to Ukraine to fight Russia.

July. 21: GOP concludes with Trump giving his speech accepting the Republican nomination.

July 22: WikiLeaks releases stolen emails from Democratic National Committee.

July 25: Democratic convention begins.

July 27: Trump asks Russia: "If you're listening, I hope you're able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing."

August 4: CIA Director John Brennan confronts his Russian counterpart about Russia's interference.

October 4: WikiLeaks says they will publish [missing] campaign emails.

October 7: Homeland Security and the Director of National Intelligence say Russia is interfering in the 2016 election.

October 7: WikiLeaks begins releasing Clinton Campaign Chair John Podesta's emails.

October 31: Trump says "This WikiLeaks is like a treasure trove."

November 4: Trump says "Boy, I love those WikiLeaks!"

I'm sure this is all a coincidence.

Junior
A couple of days ago, the "failing" New York Times revealed yet another previously undisclosed meeting between Jared Kushner and representatives of Vladimir Putin. Donald Trump Jr. was present for the shenanigans this time around. He is trying to explain it all away by saying that the meeting involved his family's concern for the orphans of Russia.  Sure. We are all by now familiar with that family’s reputation as great and selfless humanitarians. I was born very early in the morning - but it wasn’t this morning. For every hour that passes by, this thing keeps getting deeper and deeper. The funny thing is the very sight of the president; it’s very similar to Dick Nixon’s last, completely unhinged year as president. The Trickster knew he was screwed, and he completely fell apart as a result. The only difference between now and then (and it’s a huge difference) is that Nixon, for all his flaws, was not certifiably insane. Those of us who lived through those interesting times were relatively certain that he was not going to launch World War Three in an effort to divert our attention. Not so with the Donald. The man is every bit as unhinged as his chubby little North Korean counterpart. Ain't that a scream?

As anyone who has bothered to pay attention for the past eight months could have easily predicted: This is going to end catastrophically. We are no longer the leader of the free world. We are no longer the hope of humankind; We are no longer the country of progress and innovation; We are no longer the envy of those who yearn to be free....We're simply Idiot Nation.

Be sure to pick up some souvenirs while you're here!

Collusion, cooperation, collaboration, obstruction of justice, and now treason.

The White House has become the real Borscht Belt of our nation.

Pass the vodka komrads. The Russians won, and the Putin Administration has taken our country.

And I did.

This maniac has opened the floodgates of Hell. The very worst of America's sordid history is creeping into our lexicon, and is attempting to replay those horrible periods over again. We're already seeing "brother against brother"; families fragmented and having nothing to do with each other.

One thing we know for sure: Donald Trump is not one to bring our country together again. Quite the opposite.

Personally, I'm lusting AFTER Stephanie Miller. I KNOW she's Gay, but I don't care. Smart and beautiful, I will become a male lesbian for her.

On a serious note, looks like little trump just got Daddy in more trouble with HIS 'e-mails".

Gotta love THAT irony!

I am not sure why the Democrats are all in an uproar. If all of their accusations are true, they should be swarming to support Trump. After all, Russia under the soviets was their example of how the government SHOULD have been providing for the common good. Socialism was the cure to the greed and corruption of capitalism. Right?

Exclusive: Obama's DOJ let Russian lawyer into US before she met with Trump team.

Nothing here.

Hopefully the Don Junior revelations will expedite the process of getting the racist xenophobe kicked out of office, and with a little luck Mr. Next-in-Line will go with him. That's looking on the bright side.

The other side, where the darkness of our tainted history could resurface, might germinate the seedlings of a racist civil war unequaled in our history, not to mention provoke other nations to interfere, or worse, retaliate. History's most tragic endings always seem to have developed through a domino-effect. The question is, how will they begin falling?...and when will it become unquestionably apparent?

We're in for a hell of a ride. Hold on.

“Collective obsessional behavior” is defined as a “condition in which a large group of people exhibit similar physical or emotional symptoms, such as anxiety or extreme excitement. Also called epidemic hysteria.”

The Clinton campaign came up with their Trump-colluded-with-Russia meme about twenty-four hours after the election results were verified. It was nonsense then as it is today, but the left's mental distress has become so grievous that they no longer can be called rational or even sane.

Patricia McCarthy

Why did Loretta Lynch grant Trump Jr's Russian lawyer a special visa to enter America?

A visa that expired and was not enforced?

Clucky, Donnie Jr. Just admitted collusion in his e-mails. It's over. Stop trying to deny it. You aren't fooling anyone 17 US intelligence agencies say it happened. You lose.

Maybe you can fall Back on Hannity's excuse "Collusion is not illegal" (actually it's a federal crime)

This projection perfectly fits the Cult of Right-wing Authoritarian Personalities. The CRAP hates over half the American people while trusting and believing Republicans and Trump.

Case closed.

This from the guy who believe with all his heart, we were going to have to get used to saying "madam President". LOL, more epidemic hysteria.

BTW, if there was collusion, how did it defeat HRC?

We need to see if the Trumps were part of any US uranium mines sold to Russia.

Now that is treason. amirite?

JG, I think any sort of civil war has an extremely small chance of happening. Much more likely is a confrontation with Russia in Syria as we have started building a huge military base over there. Unless Russia completely folds and capitulates to the US, which I doubt will happen, there will soon be casualties on both sides.

This is where our regime change policies of the last 64 years will come to a head and Russia might be the one country to put an end to them.

If we can get past WW3 then China will come along after that and claim the worlds reserve currency and that will stop the US dead in the tracks.

"Long-time Clinton family ally Paul Begala on Wednesday evening seemingly suggested President Trump should consider bombing Russia in response to the Kremlin’s meddling in the 2016 election. Speaking with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, the former adviser to Bill Clinton lamented how Trump supporters don’t seem particularly outraged about Russia’s meddling in American affairs. “We were and are under attack by a hostile foreign power,” he said, “and... we should be debating how many sanctions we should place on Russia or whether we should blow up the KGB, GSU, or GRU [Russia’s foreign intelligence agency].” He continued: “If I was Trump, I would be mad because it has tainted his victory.”

Hillary Clinton Calls for U.S. to Bomb Syria
Clinton noted that she had advocated for a no-fly zone in Syria after leaving government, something that Obama opposed.

US News and World Report.

Answers the question "what would Hillary do?"

CLOSING COMMENTS:

T. Paine: "...Russia under the soviets was their example of how the government SHOULD have been providing for the common good."

and...

"Socialism was the cure to the greed and corruption of capitalism. Right?"

Mr. Paine, based upon your most recent comments I can tell you've decided to hold your nose and join the Idiot Nation.

Anyway, America, under the native American indigenous tribal units that inhabited this land for thousands of years, provided for the common good. They were a very happy and spiritual people who respected the air, the water, and the land, and they provided for their elderly - respecting them as the wise beings they were - before the greed and sickness of the many waves of capitalistic greed annihilated them and stole their land through genocide and "the rule of law". Unfortunately, it wasn't their law.

I'm guessing you haven't differentiated the former socialist Soviet Union with the oligarchical winner-take-all system of the current Russia? You did hear about that through Fox News, I hope.

Chuck "Majormajor" Morre: "BTW, if there was collusion, how did it defeat HRC?"

We'll have to wait for all the juicy details at Trump's impeachment trial. But don't worry, all the evidence is being gathered right now, but it may take a while. Robert Mueller is known to be a very thorough and meticulous investigator. You can bet he won't leave any stone unturned.

To answer your question with a not-so-wild-ass-guess, I'm sure Robert Mercer played a key part in manipulating the 2016 presidential election. He certainly had major influence getting his selections included on Trump's staff and cabinet. Hmm...I wonder why?

Chuck "Micheal Stivic" Morre: "Now that is treason. amirite?"

You're so out of character, again, Chuck. You can't even do that right!...

"woodenman1954: "I think any sort of civil war has an extremely small chance of happening."

Don't be too sure. We're already in a "cold" civil war. Whatever it takes to escalate and turn it "hot", remains to be seen.

"Much more likely is a confrontation with Russia..."

Yes, that's a likelihood if Clinton had won, also. We were doomed as an electorate. We were given a choice between death, and death warmed over. The neocons are in firm control of our government, and Trump has already capitulated.

Chuck "Majormajor" Morre: "Now that is treason."

It certainly is -- by the heads of the corporate state, and the legislators and courts who enable it. They're all complicit in creating the current situation -- and what's surely to follow.

We are, definitely, in the midst of a cold civil war -- with most of the blame due to our racist president.
