Two Stolen Elections=One Damaged Republic

By now it should be painfully obvious to anyone with half a brain (Attn: viewers of Fox and Friends) that the most criminal administration in the history of human folly is only in power because they blatantly stole two elections and that the people in our country who have suffered the most from the despicable policies of the corrupt regime of George W. Bush were the main pawns in their twisted little game.

In the state of Florida during the campaign of 2000, Jeb Bush and everyone's favorite political call girl, Katherine Harris, hired an out-of-state firm that was able to come in and remove as many African Americans as possible from the list of registered voters - 57,000 of them. If you were black and living anywhere in the sunshine state that year and you shared a name with a convicted felon anywhere in the United States, you weren't going to vote. Period. Let's just say, for the sake of argument, that you were a sixty-seven year pastor of a small Baptist church in Tallahassee with the same name as a convicted crack addict in Buffalo. If you were planning on voting in 2000, you were shit-outta-luck, pardner! Of course, the fact that people of color tend to vote democratic is purely coincidental - Nudge! Nudge! Wink! Wink!

Four years later, on election day 2004, every exit poll had John Kerry winning the key battleground states of Ohio and New Mexico. Truth be told, I went to bed just after midnight, confident that the horrible era of the worst president in American history had come to a merciful end. When I got up at around four AM to check Kerry's margin of victory, my nephew, Chris Pennings, the lead singer/songwriter/ guitarist for the fabulous new band, SOUTHCOTT (Shameless plug) who was staying with me at the time, greeted me with the following words, "He won". I could tell by the look on his face just who "he" was. I was stunned. Or as the late, great comedian, Fred Allen, would say, "I was gasted right down to my flabbers"!

Once the shock wore off, I got good and angry. Not just at the tidal wave of human shit within the Bush crowd who were able to steal two elections but at the incredible naivete of the American electorate. In spite of the fact that Kerry and Al Gore won their respective contests, it should have been a landslide. I mean, let's face some serious facts here: Running against a disgusting cowboy wannabe like George W. Bush should have been the political equivalent of shooting fish in a barrel.

More than a little bit of my rage was also directed at Gore and Kerry, both able and intelligent men, for running such jaw-droppingly dumb campaigns. The next democratic nominee, whoever he or she may be (Are you listening, Russ?) cannot run away from their natural base as they've been doing for the past quarter of a century. That is the only way we progressives - LIBERALS - will be able to regain control of our deplorably damaged system. By November of 2008, the American people will have had it up to here (Please note: I'm pointing at my forehead) with these atrocious bastards. This country is finally awakening from the right-wing coma that it's been snoozing under since it foolishly sent a feeble-minded, failed "B" movie actor by the name of Ronald Reagan to the White House twenty-six years ago.

There's a sleeping giant out there, Russ. Give him a little poke.

Pray for peace.

Tom - I've been following your commenting on AlterNet for awhile now and just wanted to say a quick thank-you and offer up a bit of solidarity in your perceptions of what's going on in our country right now. Your clarity is inspiring. If people would just do a little research on both history and current events, then step back to look at the big picture - connect the dots, as it were - everything begins to make sense. Fortunately, history helps us understand that progress always seems to cycle through a "two steps forward, one step back" pattern. Unfortunately, two steps forward has also lead up to sciences that could ostensibly take us all out with one stupid butterfly wing'd decision. Interesting times, indeed. Stay strong.

Thank you for your kind words. THAT really made my day!

lovely words this morning tom...and i agree that the public will be fed up by 2008

but the biggest problem i see is -- will they get mad enough to go and vote the assholes OUT of power?

or will they sit in front of their comfortable reality tvs expecting someone else to make the effort?

second biggest problem - will anyone with a shred of honesty run for any political office in 2008? and if they do - how long will it take the 'crowd conscious' to make them a sheep of the rich and powerful currently running this county?

Tom, What worries me is how do we insure that King George's minions don't steal a third election in 2008... or even selected ones this November?

Kerry should have shouted what he only murmered as an aside in 2004, "These guys are the most crooked, lying group I've ever seen."

Yep! There is indeed a sleeping giant out there and we've been poking it for years! I think poking isn't the answer! Poking might wake him up, if Bush and Company hadn't put a pound of Valium in his cornflakes, but now it just ain't getting the job done! Every time somebody gets a story into the MSM about this reprehensible prick and his flock of Sheople shoehorning it's way around our civil rights, there seems to be another "sex crime" of horredous scope and magnitude or a "terrorist threat" handily difused to cover up the civil rights threat, only to blow up in the faces of the prosecuter at a later and more opertune time. Yesterday was no different! We got the international banking snoopathon and the arrest of a bunch of knee-jerk terrorist wannabes in Florida at the precise same time! Ater Cheney found out that he couldn't strong arm the press into silence about the banking story, he sent the FBI to Florida to arrest a warehouse full of Right Wing Islamic Nut-jobs who had no explosives or any expertise in the use of explosives if they did! As far as terrorists go on a scale of 1 to 10, these guys were a 0.5. Kinda like the eighties freaks that still wear purple mohawks and listen to techno-pop: Annoying, but for the most part harmless! Of course none of that kept all the President's men from hopping up and down like they just dscovered Bin Laden in the shower!

I'm afraid America has Bush because we deserve him! And untill we can look around the bells and whistles to see what is behind door number three, we're just going to have to put up with him!

The more I look at that sleeping giant, the more a want a LOT of chrystal meth! Sad part is, I don't think even that will wake that sucker up!!!

A penny for your thoughts

Dr. John Alford of Rice university, who surveyed about 8000 sets of fraternal and identical twins, says our political views may be largely the results of inborn, instinctive predisposition.

http://www.orlandoweekly.com/features/story.asp?id=8189

According to Dr. Alford, ‘The real key is, if you think about two ways to kind of sell an issue, you can sell in a kind of intellectual way … [but] the truth is for most people, there's a gut-level reaction that's probably more important than an intellectual one.’ He also says that because men and women seek mates with similar ideologies, the conservative and progressive gene pools are becoming more concentrated, not less.

Basically the findings don’t offer much hope to resolve the country’s bitter political divide, which reminds me that 'ssegallmd' once commented on AlterNet ‘…Besides, it's just common sense that you shouldn't bother to try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and it annoys the pig.’ BIG SIGH.

Hi Tom,

I agree completely with Truth Hunter. Anyone who is not completely dense now knows that the last election was stolen. The question now is how do we keep it from happening again?

Given the criminal mentality of those currently in office, they will use any kind of tactics that would have made Hitler envious to get elected.

My biggest fear is that there will not be a 2008 election, but that someone (Rove?) will manufacture some sort of national crisis whereby elections will be suspended so that Dubya and his thugs can remain in office.

Tom,

Don't you think it would be nice to provide some arguements about supporting Russ Feingold for 2008 president?

He did make comments after Democrates ignored his proposal to censure GBW over domestics spying: " I'm amazed at Democrates...cowering with this president's numbers so low."

This is not enough.

Cheers and Happy July 4th.
