Trump Needs To Resign

When Donald J. Trump stood on the steps of the nation's capital three years ago and took the oath of office of the presidency of the United States, he swore to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States".

He's done none of these things.

Trump's position as chief-executive has become untenable in the last few days. When it became known that he knew as long ago as March of 2019 that the Russians had paid a bounty to the Afghan resistance to kill American soldiers, the rigged game was all over. When an extremist such as Trump starts to lose support of the most extreme members of his own party, he must realize that he's probably not in a very good place. The Donald has never been one to score high marks in the self-awareness department, but surely even he must realize that his chances of wining reelection on November 3rd are impossible. He is going to lose badly. He has always disparaged losers. He will be able to avoid that most ultimate of embarrassments by getting out of town while the getting is good. He could claim ill-health; he could tell his supporters that those evil liberals have made it impossible for him to govern; he could say that he must go on a secret mission to save the world from a planetary overthrow by the Deep State - he could give any excuse. His "base" as I'm sure you figured out long ago, are stupid enough to believe just about anything.

He just needs to leave, as quickly and as quietly as possible.

During the campaign of 2016, it became obvious to anyone who bothered to pay attention, that Donald Trump was suffering from severe mental illness. His condition has only deteriorated in the five years since he first announced that he was running in June of 2015. It's been a serious deterioration. I am unable to make an accurate diagnosis to what ails Trump, but nearly every medical professional in a position to do so has stated for the public record that something is not right with the man. My layman's opinion: the dude is as crazy as a bedbug.

I know what you're thinking and I agree wholeheartedly. The prospect of an imbecile like Mike Pence running the show is depressing for sure, but the most you can say in favor of the man is that he's not certifiable - at least I don't think he is. The good news is that his tenure would be mercifully brief. Four years ago, Michael Moore accurately predicted that if Trump were to be elected, a lot of innocent Americans would be killed. As of this moment we're past the 126,000 mark.

What you're witnessing at this moment on the American landscape is a lesson we have yet to learn. Putting people in charge of your government who don't believe in governing is as insane an idea as any cooked up in our 244 year history. Hopefully, thanks to the chaos of the last four years, conservatism as a viable political force is about to disappear from America forever. Fingers are crossed. Hands are folded.

2020 is now halfway over. Hang in there, folks!

SUGGESTED VIEWING:

From 1913 - 107 years ago - This is Thomas Edison's experiment in sound synchronization with the motion picture. Sound editing was not possible then so the film was done in one take. This is a remarkable little movie and the result is surprisingly successful.
