Forty-Seven Months to Go
One month into this disgusting administration, and I'm even stunned and amazed (and quite uproariously amused) at how quickly the whole thing is disintegrating. This is beyond our worst fears. You had to be unconscious not to have predicted how badly this was going to end up. I really do not believe that Trump will survive another forty-seven months; but we have to resign ourselves to the depressing fact that he will be the cross America is forced to bear for at least another two years. Impeachment will only happen with a Democratic takeover of both houses of Congress - if it ever happens at all.
There's nothing left to say. This will probably be the shortest thing I've ever written on this site. To be perfectly frank with you, I'm totally shitfaced at the moment - which is the desired condition to be in when one is as ashamed of their country as I am now. I am no longer at ease living in a nation with a population so mind-fuckingly dense that they would happily send someone as completely unhinged and unqualified as Donald Trump to the White House. Don't you dare say that I didn't warn you. Don't.
Idiot Nation.
Here is a question that is screaming to be addressed: How did a country that had the foresight to elect Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower and Barack Obama to the presidency ever sink this low? How the hell is this even possible?
Go gently into that good night, America. It's over. It's over. It's fucking over, Get used to living in a nation in ruins.

AFTERTHOUGHT, 2/22/17, 7:28 AM:
Politicians from both sides of the gap are this morning applauding Trump's choice of General H.R. McMaster to replace Michael Flynn as National Security Advisor. Some have gone as far as comparing him to George Marshall. This is a hopeful sign. McMaster has insisted on total freedom to choose his staff - without political interference. I suppose this proves the old adage that even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

Idiot Nation...45...2016

Liked the post!
Well Tom, even when sh*t faced you are cogent and right on the mark.
All I can say Tom is that I agree completely. In fact a couple of my blog buddies live in New Zealand and I am only half-jokingly asking them to help me move my family me to that country.
Tom, I leave you the following hyperlink to an article titled, Is Donald Trump the Herald of "Idiocracy"?
This article's about a film, originally a comedic satirical viewpoint of this nation in the distant future -- now finding a new audience under the genre of documentary. If you haven't seen it, make a point this weekend. It won't lessen the pain, but at least it'll provide some much needed answers for you.
Tom,
Hope your hangover is manageable today.
The WSJ is saying the Dow "Trump Bump" is the largest post inaugural jump since FDR.
Cheers!
Majormajor, maybe you should get your info from someone other than Limbuagh
"Equality",
Trumpwas chosen by the electoral college. The DEMOCRATIC (popular) vote chose Hillary by 3 million votes. Trump is no more a billionaire than you or I, and is in fact deeply in debt and desperate for cash. Look at his actions. He probably owes billions to Russia. We'd know if we could see the tax returns every other POTUS has produced for the last 65 years. He speaks his "mind" too much for a world leader and hardly any of it is ever the truth.
3 million illegal voters?
a war in Sweden?
Hillary and Obama founded ISIS?
Speaking of ISIS, it's been a month. I thought he had a "secret plan" to end them on DAY ONE? Or was he too busy building his wall, and replacing Obamacare with "something terrific"?
So what was the reaction of Conservatives when they were critical of Obama and you told them to shut the fuck up and get behind their president?
Mozart,
Tell us again what your 2016 election prediction was, something about getting used to saying "madam President".
" Impeachment will only happen with a Democratic takeover of both houses of Congress - if it ever happens at all."
Heaven help us if impeachment happens. We'll end up with President Mike Pence, who will follow essentially t he same Trump program, but who knows what he's doing.
Please, let's overwhelm the House and Senate with Democrats and then freeze Trump in an iceberg until his first term is over.
Yours Crankily,
The New York Crank
And to MajorMajor on the "Trump bump":
The reason it's a bump up in the Dow and markets is, of course, because these business people--mostly men, I'd wager--is that these people know their markets are about to be more deregulating, at least a bit, if not a great deal.
They're merely betting the sun is going to come up in the morning, in a manner of speaking.
Mo Rage, the blog
" 'We' elected this narcissistic, egomaniacal, know-nothing, inexperienced, emotional boob to 'lead'" us."
No kidding! We just got rid of one of those as president and then turned around and replaced him with another one of the same ilk.
"Oh, and sexist, racist and misogynist that is this President."
I can only assume, Kevin E, that you also criticized Bill Clinton for those same characteristics, right?
I mean, we do want to be consistent, don't we?
T. Paine, Obama was a GREAT President, who improved the economy and the quality of life for tens of millions. Saying he and Trump are the "same ilk" is not only wrong, it's OBSCENE.
Obama would have been even better if the corrupt GOP congress had done the jobs they signed an oath to do.
Mozart, it serves no purpose for me to even argue the facts with you, sir. You have no intention of seeing anything that does not support your preconceived notions of progressivism.
It doesn't matter that the TRUE unemployment rate under Obama was still horrible when you take into account labor force participation rates. Many people simply gave up looking for jobs in the Obama economy so they were not longer counted among the unemployed.
It doesn't matter that the number of those living on government assistance sky-rocketed under Obama.
It doesn't matter that those living in poverty increased dramatically under Obama.
It doesn't matter that Obama made the world far less safe by making a horrific and dangerous deal with the Iranians that will start a nuclear arms race and create further instability in the Middle East.
It doesn't matter that President Obama violated and usurped aspects of our first, second, fourth, and tenth amendment rights under his often-times unconstitutional or extra-constitutional executive orders and policies.
His major accomplishment of killing bin Laden was due to intelligence gleaned by sources and techniques he claimed to abhor.
As for the rise of the stock market in the last term, well that was simply a matter of quantitative easings by the federal reserve. They artificially propped up the stock market with tax payer dollars. Like everything else this administration did, it was all fake and for show.
But despite these facts and myriads more that I could list, it does not matter to you, sir, because you think Obama was a "GREAT" president and no incontrovertible evidence to the contrary is going to sway your ideologically-based opinion.
Trump is an egomaniacal boorish lout. While Obama admittedly might have better decorum most of the time than Trump does, they are "obscenely" cut from one and the same authoritarian cloth, my friend.
Mozart,
Obama lied.
Have you stopped waiting to say "Madam President" yet?
;-)
Tom, you and a lot of others were bamboozled about McMaster. He will be our downfall as he is an idealogical menace to the world. This the scariest article I have ever read about politics.
