His Mouth: A Weapon of Self Destruction

I almost retired The Rant recently. I was feeling so worn out by the tsunami of daily bombshells that I was starting to believe that this rolling constitutional crisis was no longer amusing. Thankfully this little bout of exasperation passed quickly. Not to compare this periodic tirade of mine to The Daily Show, but I can well imagine why Jon Stewart might feel a pang of regret for not being able to report nightly on what is happening to America at present. No, I really should stick around for this. For anyone who makes his or her name commenting on the complete train-wreck of American politics in the second decade of the 21st century. the Trump administration is the gift that keeps giving. Thank you, Donald. I owe you big time, dude!

What struck me early this morning was an opinion I read somewhere (and forgive me for not taking note of the paper or the name of the person who wrote it). This person called the events that are currently destroying the Trump presidency as "the most astonishing scandal in the history of this country". "Astonishing" is hardly an adequate way of describing it. Watergate was pretty "astonishing". As snake-like as Dick Nixon was, even the people who bothered to pay attention to his quarter-century in the national spotlight were shocked to find out that the man was capable of taking part in felonious behavior. The Trump Mob's misdeeds are something else entirely. Treason was the crime that Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were executed for sixty-six years ago. And the weirdest thing of all is the fact that it was Roy Cohen, Trump's infamous mentor, who sent the Rosenbergs to the gallows. History: It's literally drenched with juicy little ironies like that precious little nugget.

He who laughs last....
`
When the history of this comically turbulent time is finally written, it will be noted that the person most responsible for the complete and utter destruction of Donald J. Trump will not be Robert Mueller; it will not be Adam Schiff; it will not be Nancy Pelosi - nor will it be Michael Cohen. The author of this criminally inept administration's book of doom will prove to be none other than Donald Trump himself. The reason the Federal Bureau of Investigation opened this investigation into Trump's possible treasonous activity on the part of Russia (a hostile foreign power, in case it's slipped your mind) is simply because this fool could not keep his mouth shut. He admitted to Lester Holt - ON NATIONAL TELEVISION FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE!!! - that the reason for firing James Comey was because of "This Russher thing" (his words), and the tweets. Let's not forget the almost daily Twitter outbursts from the First Twit: a virtual cornucopia of direct evidence of obstruction of justice. It's a textbook case of this guy's arrogance and stupidity. As I said: "He's the gift that keeps giving".

As I've stated on this site before: Watergate was a paper-cut. This is a freaking bloodbath. The people who were naïve enough to vote for this disgusting jackass and common pervert should have known better. They should have seen this coming - as so many of us clearly did. They didn't. This is an error-of-judgment that will be a stain on America's soul for generations. Come to think about it, "error of judgment" is a little too easy. This was simply a case of mass civic recklessness and irresponsibility. Our descendants will never forgive us. They shouldn't. I don't.

We listen to Battle Hymn of the Republic today to illustrate the war between the states. One-hundred-and-fifty-four years from now, this song, this recording, will be the anthem that illustrates our struggle in January of 2018.

A similar fate for the Trump scoundrels would be sweet revenge for all Constitution-respecting Americans -- especially if the death sentence applied to the morbidly corrupt mobster-in-chief.

A public hanging on the National Mall, a la Marie Antoinette style, would certainly create controversy as to whether it or his inauguration hosted the most visitors.

My wager would be on the latter. ;-) It wouldn't even be a horse race.

Of course Trump is amazingly fond of the Saudi Arabian kingdom and its fanaticism, so possibly a public beheading would be more appropriate. Maybe the American judicial system, that he so disrespects, could make the choice his.

After all, what better precedent could be afforded the first president in U.S. history executed for treason against his own country -- along with various other high crimes and misdemeanors?

Then :

Trump~The FBI is doing surveillance on me.

The media and FBI~No we aren’t. We are doing surveillance on Carter Page, Manafort, and Papadoupolis.

Now:

Trump’s actions so alarmed the F.B.I. after James Comey’s firing that it began investigating if Trump was working on behalf of Russia.

***Andrew C. McCarthy: FBI Russia investigation was always about Trump.

***I watched a little of the Sunday Talk shows. They discussed the NYT's article with no self-awareness that the article proved Trump correct and they were wrong. NO MEA CULPA.

In trying to lob a Molotov cocktail into the Trump White House, the New York Times last Friday succeeded only in blowing off yet another of its appendages. Fixated on its manic desire to destabilize the lawfully elected government of the United States (at what point does the "Resistance" become active sedition?), the media has chosen to fight as down and dirty as possible, and in so doing hit a new low:

F.B.I. Opened Inquiry Into Whether Trump Was Secretly Working on Behalf of Russia

In the days after President Trump fired James B. Comey as F.B.I. director, law enforcement officials became so concerned by the president’s behavior that they began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests, according to former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation.

The inquiry carried explosive implications. Counterintelligence investigators had to consider whether the president’s own actions constituted a possible threat to national security. Agents also sought to determine whether Mr. Trump was knowingly working for Russia or had unwittingly fallen under Moscow’s influence.

The investigation the F.B.I. opened into Mr. Trump also had a criminal aspect, which has long been publicly known: whether his firing of Mr. Comey constituted obstruction of justice.

This is, in a nutshell, the heart of the MSM's "case" against the president, a mixture of wishful thinking, venality, and downright criminality. It is also one of the most egregious cases of psychological projection we've ever seen, for reasons that will soon become clear. The Times and the rest of its media fellow travelers simply cannot accept that a) Trump won the election fair and square under our Constitution, b) was fully within his right to fire James Comey for any reason or no reason at all, c) and has not had a single legal charge laid against him, not even when the Straight Arrow was unlawfully appointed to lead a "counter-intelligence" investigation into whether there had been Russian "collusion" with the Trump campaign during the 2016 election cycle.

Deep down, of course, they know all this, but they don't care.

Hey Vern!

What is the crime being discussed? I believe it is treason against the United States of America, correct?

What in the world are you, and your other tightly-wound no-nothings, bitching about?...the U.S. government conducting surveillance on an individual suspected of treasonous activity, who just so happens to be president of the country?

Hmm... 🤔

So, tell me...what do you see as wrong here. Is it the surveillance?...or the treason?

It's not amusing, but your obligation as a prophet of the Fourth Turning is to resist and lend your wisdom to those coming behind.

Hang in there. Although there are no guarantees we'll come though this whole, our roles have been chosen.

Resist.

Clucky, don't you EVER get tired of looking like a complete idiot? BL:AMING the "MSM" as if you have any concept what that is (beyond what the initials stand for)

How many times does Trump have to defend Putin over the interests of the USA before you get it?

Imagine Obama saying "I asked ISIS if they hated the USA and they said they didn't, so I believe them". LOL

Hell, Imagine a BLACK MAN bragging about assaulting women.

Mozart the Lessor, don't you ever get tired of attacking those you disagree with instead of presenting positions that are provable in a court of law to support your position? You have become just like JD.

Here's something for you to ignore. 95% of current employees are laid off because they are non essential. What does that mean to you?

"Hope vs. Change: Why Some Democrats Are Turning on Obama’s Legacy
Obama was a visionary who gave us the Affordable Care Act, DACA, and the Paris deal, but many of the country’s most ominous trends also proceeded apace under his watch. Now, in advance of 2020, a new generation of Democratic candidates is reconsidering his history—perhaps in regard to how it aids their prospects."

Speaking of someones mouth being a "weapon of self destruction" did you hear see or read of the interview by CNN’s Areva Martin of conservative talk show host David Webb about diversity in the media.
Here's a link: https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2019/01/talk-show-host-calls-out-black-commentator-for-his-white-privilege.php

Here, via Amber Athey of the Daily Caller, is the key part of their exchange:

Webb:

I’ve chosen to cross different parts of the media world, done the work so that I’m qualified to be in each one. I never considered my color to be the issue — I considered my qualifications to be the issue.

Martin:

That’s a whole other long conversation about white privilege, which assumes that you have the privilege of doing what people of color don’t have the privilege of.

Webb:

How do I have the privilege of white privilege?

Martin:

David, by virtue of being a white male, you have white privilege.

Webb (after a pause):

Areva, I hate to break it to you, but you should’ve been better prepped. I am black. You’re talking to a black man who started out in rock radio in Boston. . .

LOL love the MSM don't you Mozart the Lesser.

Mozart the Lesser,

Did your beloved MSM make this known to you?

A federal judge ruled Tuesday that former national security adviser Susan Rice and former deputy national security adviser Ben Rhodes must answer written questions about the State Department's response to the deadly 2012 terror attack in Benghazi, Libya, as part of an ongoing legal battle over whether Hillary Clinton sought to deliberately evade public record laws by using a private email server while secretary of state.

As a new caravan that began in Honduras and quickly swelled to an estimated 2,000 people made its way toward Mexico on Tuesday, Mexicans who live along the border towns that will likely be most affected took to the Internet to lash out against another wave of migrants.

Inquiring minds would like to know.

Walls around the world: Trump says 45 countries have border barriers or plans to build them and Europeans have erected 800 MILES in the last four years

Trump's newest argument for a wall between the U.S. and Mexico is that the world is full of them
Says at least 45 countries either have border barriers or plans to build them
Claims Europeans have erected 800 miles of walls since the 2015 migrant crisis erupted
Both figures are from USA Today, which cited the US Refugee Agency
'They have all been recognized as close to 100% successful,' the president tweeted
His 'America first' brand so far has rested on the idea of breaking away from the international pack

Separately, USA Today reported that since Europe's migrant crisis erupted in 2015, 'at least 800 miles of fences have been erected by Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Macedonia, Slovenia and others.'

The newspaper cited the UN Refugee Agency for its statistics.

When the annals of mistakes and abuses in the FBI’s Russia investigation are finally written, Bruce Ohr almost certainly will be the No. 1 witness, according to my sources.

The then-No. 4 Department of Justice (DOJ) official briefed both senior FBI and DOJ officials in summer 2016 about Christopher Steele’s Russia dossier, explicitly cautioning that the British intelligence operative’s work was opposition research connected to Hillary Clinton’s campaign and might be biased.

Ohr’s briefings, in July and August 2016, included the deputy director of the FBI, a top lawyer for then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch and a Justice official who later would become the top deputy to special counsel Robert Mueller.

At the time, Ohr was the associate attorney general. Yet his warnings about political bias were pointedly omitted weeks later from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant that the FBI obtained from a federal court, granting it permission to spy on whether the Trump campaign was colluding with Russia to hijack the 2016 presidential election.

Hey Vern, those fleeing persecution wouldn't need to if American foreign policy didn't turn their nations into vacuums of economic and political uncertainty.

Thank Reagan and Bush 41. This is the collateral damage and unintended consequences of Iran-Contra and other CIA excursions in Central America in the 1980s and early '90s.

But you already knew this.

"President Donald Trump directed his longtime attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about negotiations to build a Trump Tower in Moscow, according to two federal law enforcement officials involved in an investigation of the matter.

Trump also supported a plan, set up by Cohen, to visit Russia during the presidential campaign, in order to personally meet President Vladimir Putin and jump-start the tower negotiations. 'Make it happen,' the sources said Trump told Cohen.
