Rainin' on Dubya's Parade

The "Decider"
`
"We've had enough Bushes."

-Barbara Bush on the Today Show

"Ain't it the truth! Ain't it the truth!"

-Burt Lahr, as the Cowardly Lion

So, the man who is in serious competition with James Buchanan for being remembered as the worst, most insanely incompetent chief-executive in the archives of human stupidity finally has his own library? A place where future historians may romp with joy and scholarly abandon to their little hearts' content? Hmm....

FDR
I live less than forty miles from the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library and Museum in Hyde Park, NY. I visit there as often as I can because I really love the place. I always feel a little better about this doomed country whenever I leave there. It is truly a fitting memorial to a great American leader, arguably the greatest in history. I might be persuaded to visit the Bush Library someday - if only out of morbid curiosity you understand. I imagine any place that is designed for no other purpose than to put a sugar coating on the sick and twisted legacy of George W. Bush ought to be just oodles of fun to visit! I liken it to putting a smiley face on the carcass a decomposing pig. "Whoa! Lookie thar, Martha, ain't that purdy!"

Revisionism can be a riot of laughter, a cornucopia of mirth and merriment for anyone with a halfway-decent knowledge of history. So it was with the cascade of nonsense flowing in torrents out of the George W. Bush Presidential Center at its opening this week. It was an absolute hoot watching the speakers pay tribute to the disgusting little thug - especially the Democrats! The very spectacle of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama attempting to twist the English language like salt water taffy in order to honor this guy was too much for the senses to even come close to comprehending. About the best the president could come up with was this beauty:

"To know George W. Bush is to like him."

Somebody hand me my chisel.

It was about as surreal as any news event that has been my dubious joy to witness with my own eyes. Did you catch the aptly-named, Andy Card? This bird-brain was actually bragging to a reporter from CNN about Bush's economic record! I believe the words he used were, "second to none". Indeed. Does this nitwit even know the definition of the word, "irony"? More than a few people on this day were saying that history would be kind to Bush. Someone on Fox Noise even had the chutzpa to put the hideous little bastard up right up there in the pantheon of great American presidents:

"George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan....George W. Bush"

It's bad enough that these knuckleheads still insist on putting the likes of Reagan on the same level as Lincoln and FDR - but George W. Bush???

Can grown adults be that completely unhinged from reality that they sincerely believe that posterity is going forgive the worst blunder ever made by the American electorate? Remember the reason people gave for voting for Bush? They would rather have a beer with him than the nerdy policy-wonk, Al Gore - or the colorless boy-scout-wannabe, John Kerry. Truth be told, I would much rather have a beer with George W. Bush. You see, I have this reoccurring fantasy about smashing the half-witted little frat boy upside the head with a bottle of Pabst Blue Ribbon ale.

We can console ourselves  in the knowledge that the elections of 2000 and 2004 were stolen. Had every vote been counted - and every registered voter given access to the ballot box - Bush would have lost both of those contests. He won the state of Florida in 2000 because his brother, the governor, denied 57,000 legally registered African Americans the right to vote. He won Ohio four years later because the Republicans made damned sure that polling places in the cities of that state (where all those nasty brown people tend to reside) would be limited to a small handful, and therefore, quite crowded. People left the polling lines in utter frustration. A lot of them had children at home waiting for dinner. Both thefts were enough to put him over the top. Nowadays the success of the GOP depends upon the suppression of votes. What do you think those "Voter ID" laws were all about? You might want to make a little note of that.

One does not envy the people in charge of developing the exhibits for the Dubya Library. Whoever the poor bastards are I hope they're paid quite handsomely for their efforts. It takes real talent to turn a mountain of chickenshit into a tasty plate of chicken salad.

Yeah, Bush and Cheney rid the Middle East of a naughty "evil-doer" named Saddam Hussein, but they did it by means of some incomprehensible evil-doing. They lied about Saddam's capacity to make war; that he had weapons of mass destruction; that he was somehow complicit in the atrocity committed against this country on September 11, 2001. All lies - and anyone bothering to pay attention knew damned well that these murderous bastards and bitches were lying. The result was a mountain of dead bodies, the number of which may reach a million or more. We'll never know the exact death toll.  'Twas all about an ocean of oil - flowing 'neath the Iraqi soil.....

Does the Iraqi War wing of this place take note of the fact that by illegally invading the (like it or not) sovereign nation of Iraq the Bush Mob created a geo-political nightmare that will haunt the United Nations for decades? I'm going to take a wild guess here and say that they probably neglected to include that nasty little reality in their presentation. Why waste one's time with cold, hard facts when fantasy is so much more palatable to one's deluded sense of reality? Welcome to Bush World. Enjoy your stay - and watch yer step, Buster, ya hear?

And speaking of Iraq, there's a pretty good reason why Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld don't travel abroad anymore. They're war criminals who run the risk of being arrested for their crimes against the human race. Staying put is a dandy idea if you know what I mean.

"I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we're really talking about peace."

-President Dubya
June 18, 2002

Won't you come home, George Orwell? Won't you come home?

Knock! Knock!
I wonder if the Bush Library has a wing that highlights what "a heck of a job" his disgusting administration did during the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. I really hope so. I've only been to Dallas, Texas once - and that was a very long time ago. I don't imagine I'll be passing through that town any time soon, but the chance to see their "Katrina Wing" would be worth the price of the journey! Can you imagine the job it took to sugarcoat that one? It was Katrina, more than anything else, that finally woke the American people up to the horrible realization that sending this idiot to Washington was an error of incalculable dimensions

At the FDR Library in Hyde Park, there is a building called "The Henry Wallace Welcoming Center", named for Mr. Roosevelt's second vice-president. There is also a large photograph of Mr. Wallace at the entrance. Call it a silly hunch on my part, but I doubt very much that the Bush Library's "welcoming center" bears the name and likeness of Dick Cheney. Who the hell in their right mind would even enter the joint with Cheney's face snearing at them in the doorway? Would you subject your children to something that weird? I ask you!

I can still remember the first time first time I ever laid eyes on George W. Bush. It was in May of 1988, when his father was being seriously challenged in the South Carolina primaries by preacher-from-hell, Pat Robertson. He was being interviewed on NBC News, telling the correspondent that no one was "gonna whup" his daddy. "My goodness", I remember saying out loud, "the boy is dumber than dog shit, isn't he!" If you had told me then and there that in thirteen years this inarticulate jackass would be the president of the United States of America I would have said, "Have another sip". As Fats Waller liked to say back in his time, "One never knows, do one?"

BAD NEWS:
Whoever is president fifty years from now in all likelihood hasn't even been born yet. I don't envy that person. He or she will still - on a daily basis - be dealing with the damage that George W. Bush and company did to this once-great nation so many generations before. Best of luck to them.

GOOD NEWS:
Most of us will be dead and gone by that time. Isn't that nice?

During the entire eight, gruesome years that George called the White House "home", I only wrote one letter to him. It is dated March 19, 2007, the fourth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. Here it is for the record in its entirety:

*******************************

Dear President Bush,

Today on MSNBC, they re-broadcast the footage from May 1, 2003 of you on the deck of the aircraft carrier, Abraham Lincoln. I saw the Mission Accomplished banner. I saw you in that silly flight suit. I saw you with that disgusting smirk on your face as you declared, "Major combat operations in Iraq are over."

Question: Sir, with the benefit of 20/20 historical hindsight, do you even have a clue as to how fucking stupid you looked? Just wondering.

Love and peace,

Tom Degan

PS - By the way, when you get a chance, have a look at my blog:

www.tomdegan.blogspot.com

It's a lot of fun!

 ************************

FOR THE RECORD:
He did make a sincere effort to alleviate the AIDS crisis in Africa and, by all accounts, the effects were positive. Good for him. That is the only decent thing I can think of to say about President Bush. But in all fairness that fact should be noted.

This is more than likely the last piece I'll be writing for a very long time on the depressing subject of George W. Bush. Tomorrow marks the tenth anniversary of his idiotic "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" stunt on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln - a mission that would never be accomplished. I won't be taking note of it. It's about time we consigned him to history's shit pile where he rightfully belongs. Unless he says or does something really stupid, or unless still more evidence comes to the surface shedding even more light on how mind-jarringly corrupt his administration was (both scenarios not being out of the realm of possibility), I'm pretty much through thinking about Dubya.

Me 'n' Dubya, 10/27/08
`
I really should give a tip of the hat to the contemptible little freak. It must be said that George W. Bush had a major impact on my life; in fact he gave it new meaning. I had always, since childhood, paid close attention to politics and current events. Bush turned me into a stone-cold activist. The site you are now reading is as much his legacy as it is mine. For that reason alone I owe the guy a great debt of gratitude. Credit must be given where credit is long overdue:

Thanks a heap, George!

MY favorite "revision" tactic used by the right is the way the mention his national security record AFTER 9-11. They alway like to leave that "minor incident" out don't they? They also cover his lack of speaking skills with "Obama needs a teleprompter" and mention every tee shot Obama takes to cover Bush's record number of vacation days. Obama was being called "worst president ever" by conservatives before the echo died on his first oath of office, just to get the ball rolling on covering up Bush's legacy. Incredible.

Obama has complimented Bush on his work in Africa, which he(Bush) did without Cheney's blessing BTW. Can you imagine what the backlash from the right would be if OBAMA made a big deal out of helping AFRICA?

Tom,
Don't you hate it when someone starts using the official talking points from headquarters before you do?

"Speaking on his Iranian television program, former London Mayor Ken Livingston placed the blame for the radicalization of the two brothers who carried out the attack on the Boston Marathon on April 15 squarely on the shoulders of former President George W. Bush. Livingston said that the Bush administration’s policies of foreign interventionism as well as the extradition and rendition of terror suspects fueled the anger of the Tsarnaev brothers and led them to their murderous actions."

See, it's never too late to blame Bush.

Here's a little rain on Obama-care's parade: Of course if you are unemployed I guess you wont have to pay any of this.

Starting in tax year 2013:

Obamacare Surtax on Investment Income: A new, 3.8 percent surtax on investment income earned in households making at least $250,000 ($200,000 single). This tax hike results in the following top tax rates on investment income:
Capital Gains Dividends Other*
2013+ 23.8% 43.4% 43.4%

(Bill: Reconciliation Act; Page: 87-93)

Obamacare Medicare Payroll Tax Increase:

First $200,000

($250,000 Married)

Employer/Employee

All Remaining Wages

Employer/Employee

Pre-Obamacare

1.45%/1.45%

2.9% self-employed

1.45%/1.45%

2.9% self employed
Obamacare

1.45%/1.45%

2.9% self-employed

1.45%/2.35%

3.8% self-employed

(Bill: PPACA, Reconciliation Act; Page: 2,000-2,003; 87-93)

Obamacare Medical Device Tax: Medical device manufacturers employ 409,000 people in 12,000 plants across the country. Obamacare imposes a new 2.3 percent excise tax on gross sales – even if the company does not earn a profit in a given year. In addition to killing small business jobs and impacting research and development budgets, this will make everything from pacemakers to artificial hips more expensive. (Bill: PPACA; Page: 1,980-1,986)

Obamacare High Medical Bills Tax: Before Obamacare, Americans facing high medical expenses were allowed a deduction to the extent that those expenses exceed 7.5 percent of adjusted gross income (AGI). Obamacare now imposes a threshold of 10 percent of AGI. Therefore, Obamacare not only makes it more difficult to claim this deduction, it widens the net of taxable income. According to the IRS, 10 million families took advantage of this tax deduction in 2009, the latest year of available data. Almost all are middle class. The average taxpayer claiming this deduction earned just over $53,000 annually. ATR estimates that the average income tax increase for the average family claiming this tax benefit will be $200 - $400 per year. To learn more about this tax, click here. (Bill: PPACA; Page: 1,994-1,995)

Obamacare Flexible Spending Account Tax: The 30 - 35 million Americans who use a pre-tax Flexible Spending Account (FSA) at work to pay for their family’s basic medical needs face a new Obamacare cap of $2,500. This will squeeze $13 billion of tax money from Americans over the next ten years. (Before Obamacare, the accounts were unlimited under federal law, though employers were allowed to set a cap.) Now, a parent looking to sock away extra money to pay for braces will find themselves quickly hitting this new cap, meaning they would have to pony up some or all of the cost with after-tax dollars. Needless to say, this tax will especially impact middle class families. There is one group of FSA owners for whom this new cap will be particularly cruel and onerous: parents of special needs children. Nationwide there are several million families with special needs children and many of them use FSAs to pay for special needs education. Tuition rates at one leading school that teaches special needs children in Washington, D.C. (National Child Research Center) can easily exceed $14,000 per year. Under tax rules, FSA dollars can be used to pay for this type of special needs education. This Obamacare tax provision will limit the options available to these families. (Bill: PPACA; Page: 2,388-2,389)

Starting in tax year 2014:

At 6:17 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Part TWO

Obamacare Individual Mandate Non-Compliance Tax: Starting in 2014, anyone not buying “qualifying” health insurance – as defined by President Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services -- must pay an income surtax to the IRS. The Congressional Budget Office recently estimated that six million American families will be liable for the tax, and as pointed out by the Associated Press: “Most would be in the middle class.”

In addition, 100 percent of Americans filing a tax return (140 million filers) will be forced to submit paperwork to the IRS showing they either had “qualifying” health insurance for every month of the tax year or they obtained an exemption to the mandate.

Americans liable for the surtax will pay according to the following schedule
1 Adult 2 Adults 3+ Adults
2014 1%AGI/$95 1%AGI/$190 1%AGI/$285
2015 2%AGI/$325 2%AGI/$650 2%AGI/$975
2016 2.5%AGI/$695 2.5%AGI/$1390 2.5%AGI/$2085

(Bill: PPACA; Page: 317-337)

Obamacare Employer Mandate Tax: If an employer does not offer health coverage, and at least one employee qualifies for a health tax credit, the employer must pay an additional non-deductible tax of $2,000 for all full-time employees. This provision applies to all employers with 50 or more employees. If any employee actually receives coverage through the exchange, the penalty on the employer for that employee rises to $3,000. If the employer requires a waiting period to enroll in coverage of 30-60 days, there is a $400 tax per employee ($600 if the period is 60 days or longer). (Bill: PPACA; Page: 345-346)

Obamacare Tax on Health Insurers: Annual tax on the industry imposed relative to health insurance premiums collected that year. The tax phases in gradually until 2018. Fully imposed on firms with $50 million in profits. (Bill: PPACA; Page: 1,986-1,993)
Starting in tax year 2018:

Obamacare Tax on Union Member and Early Retiree Health Insurance Plans: Obamacare imposes a new 40 percent excise tax on high cost or “Cadillac” health insurance plans, effective in 2018. This tax increase will most directly affect union families and early retirees, who are likely to be covered by such plans. This Obamacare tax will be levied on insurance policies whose premiums exceed $10,200 for an individual and $27,500 for a family. Middle class union members tend to be covered by such plans in states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Higher threshold ($11,500 single/$29,450 family) for early retirees and high-risk professions. CPI +1 percentage point indexed. (Bill: PPACA; Page: 1,941-1,956)

Health care for those with no way to pay for it otherwise comes ut of everyone's taxes one way or the other. This way is cheaper and fairer for everyone. ROmney called it "eliminating the deadbeats". If I was a supporter of Obama as Tom is, I'd bash Bush. I'd do anything to keep the reality of Obama's total failure to lead our country forward on anything from sinking in. Just as Hitler blamed the Jews for the results of WWI, Tom wants us to focus on and blame Bush. Anything but holding Obama accountable. Anything.

"GDP growth is in the midst of its longest sub-3 percent annual growth rate since 1929, the beginning of the Great Depression, according to Bespoke Investment Group. The economy hasn't topped 3 percent since 2005—before Federal Reserve Chairman Benrnanke took over.

Though employment has risen by 1.3 million over the past year, unemployment that counts the discouraged and underemployed, as well as the jobless (often called the "real" unemployment rate) has remained stubbornly high, at 13.8 percent of the workforce, according to the most recent count.

In fact, a state-by-state look at the numbers, released a few days ago and current through the first quarter, shows that just six states have real rates below 10 percent."

The gloomy news continued for jobs as ADP reported Wednesday that private companies created just 119,000 new positions in April.

That was well below expectations and confirmation that the labor market is slowing heading into late spring and early summer.

Economists surveyed by Reuters expected the ADP report to show the private sector created 150,000 jobs in April, down from 158,000 in March.

"Nearly every industry has seen slower growth since the beginning of the year," Moody's economist Mark Zandi said on CNBC. "Smaller businesses are experiencing much weaker growth."

(Reuters) - Private-sector hiring slowed again in April as companies added the fewest employees in seven months, the latest sign the economy is encountering a soft patch, a report by a payrolls processor showed on Wednesday.

Sorry, but raining on GWB parade doesn't keep the policy's of Obama from effecting us.

Clinton's administration was weak on anti-terrorism if you will study the history. To say Bush "allowed" the attack is stupid. Today we have an entire agency dedicated to anti-terrorism - that didn't exist pre-9/11.

Obama's administration did get bin Laden, but on the back of years of work carried out during the Bush administration - for which he is vehemently criticized regularly (tiresomely) by the blog author.

Your analyses are simplistic.

Harleyt, Bush said he "didn't know and didn't care" where Bin Laden was. He didn't even really look. Heused 9-11 as an excuse to attack and invade Iraq because he was mad that Hussein made a feeble attempt at asassinating Daddy Bush when Bush was in the middle east. As for Clinton, every time he tried to get congress to approve funds for going after ASl Queda ir Bin Laden he was laughed at because "Sadaam Hussein is the REAL threat" Limbaugh called Clinton "obsessed with Osama bin laden" on more than one occasion.

You folks have absolutely no clue. Taking a political statement from a president and extrapolating policy and military results is silly.

Presidents say all sorts of double-speak and half-truths to bend public opinion. All of them.

Truth is the bulk of the weakening of the Al Queda organization took place under Bush's administration. The capture of bin Laden was largely a symbolic "cherry-on-top" to years of weakening of that organization. I know you have to find what you can to support Obama - I get it. Not a lot to pick from. He was a 9th inning reliever to retire the 3rd batter in the whole effort.

And, I'm not even that big a fan of the guy. But, he didn't create all the ills we face today. Nor did Obama. Issues are FAR more complex than most folks on this blog seem to understand. Over-simplification is rampant.

And you tell Mozart that he is "stupid" for believing that the only people flying out of America on the night of 9/11/01 were the bin Laden family. Are you aware of the fact that this is a documented truth - and that Poppy Bush was indeed friendly with the bin Ladens?

Chuck, do you think a program as sophisticated as drones started in 2009? Think about it. Also, if YOUR son is in the military would you rather HE went into a combat situation, or would you rather it was done by an unmanned drone? Police use "drones" all the time to defuse bombs, or go into buildings where armed suspects may be. I guess you'd rather a police officer risks his life.

I must concede here that Chuck Morre makes a good point. If this drone program were Bush's, we who lean left would be screaming bloody murder.

Obama is committing war crimes - another sick legacy from Dubya (and Nixon/Kissinger). They set the precedent that U.S. presidents can get away with it.

I would not scream bloody murder unless they were used in a war like Iraq. What's the difference between drones and offshore missile strikes or bombing form planes 30,000 ft in the air? No one seems to complain about those, and drones are still more accurate and do not HAVE to carry weapons. Did we complain about the U2 when it showed us pictures of Cuban missiles?

Looks like its time again for Tom Degan to blame Bush again for the dismal economic recovery since Barry the bullshitter took office. Will the economy take 12 years to recover like when FDR became President?

I bet Toms relatives at that time were blaming Hoover year after year for the poor economic recovery under the Socialist Dictator FDR who also was economically challenged just like Barry. I bet they all wore rose colored glasses when they read Walter Duranty's column in the New York Times about how wonderful the centrally planned society the Soviet Union was. Poor Walter really had his head stuffed way up Karl Marx's ass! And just like Karl Marx wouldn't work (to support his family who lived in poverty), neither does Tom Degan. They wasted and waste their time with Anti-capitalist rants but ignore the fact that capitalism has raised more people out of poverty than all centrally planned governments combined have ever accomplished.

From the dawn of history until the 18th century, every society in the world was impoverished, with only the thinnest film of wealth on top. Then came capitalism and the Industrial Revolution. Everywhere that capitalism subsequently took hold, national wealth began to increase and poverty began to fall. Everywhere that capitalism didn't take hold, people remained impoverished. Everywhere that capitalism has been rejected since then, poverty has increased.

Just like FDR, Poor Barry couldn't run a McDonalds. And it seems like every time Barry's approval ratings go down so do the unemployment numbers. Of course our media will support this inept clown in office since they still get tingles up their leg with anything he says. It ain't no big surprise, our media and the White House are siamese twins, just like in Cuba and Venezuela with their grandiose visions of a centrally planned Utopian society which has never existed and will never happen just like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

The libs with their rose colored hope and change glasses say, "The unemployment rate has gone down!", but conveniently ignore the fact that the economy is stagnating and more and more people are not looking for work. The figures don't lie but the liars figure what to tell the dumb masses whose rose colored glasses after 5 years still can't see that the Emperor has no clothes.

The monthly job increases are way lower than the people entering the labor force age due to population growth! Isn't It A Pity, Isn't It A Shame?

Sadly the only way Obama is bringing down unemployment is by people giving up. That's like declaring a new drug that kills 90% of those who take it a success by saying 90% are no longer ill!

I believe there is a bit of a mix up with the numbers. 7.5% is actually the amount of time that obama has spent 'working' on America's economy, and most of that was spent destroying small businesses by imposing onerous rules and regulations on them they can't afford, while the large corporations in bed with and feeding off the gubmint can. The rest of the time was spent receiving his vacation entitlements as president.

TOMMY, ITS RAINING ON THE FAILURE OF SOCIALISM!

Surely conservatives are not the only ones upset with a government that does not know it's own size, but claims it needs more money to operate?

The U.S. government does not know how many agencies and programs it is asking taxpayers to fund.

Even though the editors of Wikipedia have been able to assemble a list of federal agencies, no complete official government list of federal agencies and programs currently exists.

The Government Performance and Results Modernization Act of 2010 (GPRAMA) — which became law on January 4, 2011 — established required quarterly performance assessments of government programs.

I will take a break from politics for a bit of little known trivia. May 5th, is a national holiday in Mexico. This will provide the additional historical information to help you all to grasp its significance.

Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was
manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars
of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was
to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New
York . This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise
ever delivered to Mexico . But as we know, the great ship did not make
it to New York . The ship hit an iceberg and sank. The people of
Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting its
delivery, were disconsolate at the loss. Their anguish was so great,
that they declared a National Day of Mourning.

The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known,
of course, as -
Sinko De Mayo.

Have a good day.

Circle K Southeast joined a growing list of national companies shifting workers to part-time status this week, in order to avoid paying Obamacare’s mandatory benefits, CBS-WTOC reports.

The alternative is to pay a $2,000 fine per fulltime worker who is not covered, leading Circle K to become the latest in a long line of companies to slice employee hours to avoid increased costs.

Regal Entertainment Group, the largest U.S. theater chain, specifically blamed Obamacare in April when it shifted many of its employees to below the 30-hour threshold to offset Obamacare, as did AAA Parking. Numerous restaurants, hotels and retailers have done or are considering the same.

Long Beach, Calif., located in heavily Democratic Los Angeles County, is cutting back the hours of employees to avoid the penalty, as has the state of Virginia and the city of Dearborn, Mich.

In March, The New York Times noted an “unsettling trend” in the rise of part-time workers during the languishing economic recovery in the U.S.

Earlier this week, former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean acknowledged patients will be damaged by the legislation, and longtime advocate Sen. Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) said Obamacare could cause premiums to go through the roof Thursday before trying to walk back the remarks.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has also said citizens purchasing new insurance policies for themselves this fall could face rising premiums due to the Affordable Care Act.

I guess all that hot air is proof that there are no bigger or better liars than politicians!

Voter suppression is a term that covers myriad high crimes and misdemeanors; the list grows as election day nears. The latest in MI relates to apportioning electoral votes by congressional district. The reps love this, because they have managed to redraw the district boundaries in such a way that the district I am in, as well as a couple others, are at least 80% dem. Mine snakes through three counties, and stretches 30+ miles in an urban area!
Has that been the case in the last election, Obama would've lost the electoral vote in a state where he gained about a half million more popular votes than a former resident of the state...

The current geopolitical nightmare in the mideast you mention has its roots in the geopolitical nightmare created nearly a century ago post WWI, for the benefit of the colonial powers, primarily France and the U.K. Now might be a good time to straighten out that mess, provided the need was more apparent and with more testicular fortitude on the part of politicians, and not just in the U.S.

Yeah, I don't think so either...
Regarding the domestic record, the Katrina fiasco was definitely a watershed event.
So to speak!
These are the same idiots who put two wars, as well as the usual deficits, on the national credit card, but only after ramming through a tax cut that mostly rewarded those who least needed it. Now their surrogates are screaming for fiscal responsibility. But if they weren't concerned when george the lesser was in office, and only became concerned when it was clear that they would lose the White House in '08, why should we listen to them now, especially when they go on about carpet bombing social programs??

'rising premiums are not because of AFA'

Are you calling Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius a liar?

At 9:27 PM, Blogger Mozart1220 said...

No Chuck, I'm saying that the reason the premiums are going up is because the insurance companies are PUNINISHING US for the AFA. She just left that part out because if she said it the political spitstorm would not be worth it. The right (people like YOU) would have a field day with what she said, disregarding the fact that she'd be 100% correct so you could twist her words into something she never said (see "you didn't build that").

And SuziQ, you are just being ignorant.

At 11:29 PM, Anonymous Chuck Morre said...

Mozart,

So why are insurance premiums going up?
To punish us? For what? Needing their product?
Why would insurance companies do that?

And how do you "know" Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius left some part out? Have you spoke to her? Do you live next door to her?

At 1:16 AM, Blogger Mozart1220 said...

Insurance companies punish us becaus THEN we will BLAME it on Obama and not supprt the AFA which makes them NOT kick people off for getting sick and NOT deny people for pre existing conditions. jeez, how much simpler does it have to BE? The insurance comanies want to take our money but don't want to actually provide payment when we need it. GET IT YET, or are you just so far up Rush Limbaugh's behind you refuse to accept the obvious? As for what She left out, it's also obvious. Would YOU open yourself (and your boss) up to political attacks you KNOW would result from telling the story BIG CORPRATIONS don't want told?
What's the point of explaining to you, you live in the conservative "bubble" where facts are irrelevent and only the right wing agenda is inportant(that being to make Obama look bad no matter what) I keep forgetting you are the resident provider of conservative nonsense here. I'm shocked you didn't bring up abortion again.

At 3:45 PM, Anonymous Chuck Morre said...

Mozart,

Do insurance companies have people working for them who have family and friends who will be effected by their raising of their rates?
Or will the only people who have to pay increased rates be those who are not "connected"?

Is it possible that insurance rates are going to go up because AFA requires insurance companies to insure those who in the past they could choose not to insure? Is it possible before AFA that insurance companies charged higher rates to those who lived unhealthy life styles or were higher risks that others. But with AFA everyone will be carrying part of the cost of the higher risk person in their premiums as opposed to the individual as was done in the past?

Aren't you afraid of the BIG Insurance Corporations attacking you since you have blown the whistle on their plan to screw the "little guy"? Why hasn't the President made us aware of who was really behind the upcoming increases to us for our health insurance? He cant lose an election, since he is term limited out?

Is it true that the exceptions Unions got to not have to join AFA expires in 2018?

At 5:21 PM, Anonymous Chuck Less said...

Mozart,
Don't you know insurance rates NEVER went up before Obama? That's right. Obama is destroying capitalism because he's a Marxist Muslim.

At 5:44 PM, Blogger Mozart1220 said...

Chuck, the AFA just handed insurance companies 30 million new customers. You'd think that would offseet any additional costs. No, they don't want to insure anyone that might DARE to file a claim, and they don't want to be prohibited from cutting anyone who gets a serious illness. So they punish US (making extra profits in the process) knowing people like YOU will automatically BLAME Obama for what the mulitmillion dollar corporation is doing. Pretty clever. Not unlike a drill sergant punishing the entire barracks for the antics of one slow recruit, so THEY will gang up on HIM and make him toe the line.

At 6:19 PM, Anonymous Chuck Morre said...

"YOU will automatically BLAME Obama for what the mulitmillion dollar corporation is doing"

Hey Mozart, AFA was Obama's idea, not the insurance companies. AFA wasn't the GOP's idea, they did not control either the House or the Senate when it was passed.

"No, they don't want to insure anyone that might DARE to file a claim, and they don't want to be prohibited from cutting anyone who gets a serious illness. So they punish US (making extra profits in the process)"

But with AFA they HAVE to insure everyone.

So what is your beef, that the insurance isn't free?
That it's going to cost more than it did before AFA?
That no one can be denied?
That a LARGE profit will be made, to off set the LARGE risk of covering everyone?
If no one can be denied coverage, how will insurance companies drop anyone for filling a claim?
Do you have any idea how many labor union pensions are invested with insurance companies? Don't you want those pensions to be there for the membership when they retire?
Explain to me how you think the insurance companies should operate and charge under AFA?

And best of all, how come you are so brave but Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius isn't?

Finally, in the state you live in (not the state of confusion, that's your mental state) isn't there a State department that regulates insurance companies in all phases of their business? Maybe they are they ones should be blaming.

And you are 100% sure of this because of what?

At 9:27 PM, Blogger Mozart1220 said...

Chuck, the AFA was a REPUBLICAN idea going back to Bob Dole, and put into use by ROMNEY in Massechusetts, where people LOVED it. ANd my "beef" is that if somone pays into insurance they should be able to depend on being COVERED, not being dumped when they get sick. And it should not be "free" that's the entire point. Romney said it years ago "it forces the deadbeats to pay for their own coverage and takes the burden off the taxpayers"

And thanks for the "mental state" comment. It proves you have no valid points. Typical conservative, when all else fails, resort to insults. Go back to whining about abortion Chuck, you are out of your league on this one. Later.

You really take the cake when it comes to drinking the liberal the kool aid:) If AFA was a idea of the GOP, then how many members of the GOP voted for it 4 plus years ago?
How about some proof that AFA will allow being people being"dumped when they get sick"?

How about dealing with my points about your claims of high profits?

How about defending your statement "you live in the conservative "bubble" where facts are irrelevent and only the right wing agenda is inportant(that being to make Obama look bad no matter what)"before you become enraged about mine?

How about this statement "you live in the left wing progressive liberal "bubble" where facts are irrelevant and only the Left wing agenda is important(that being to make Bush look bad no matter what)" That's all encompassing, isn't it?

My sole goal is to stop the growth of the Federal Govt as it continues to further it's control of our lives at a cost to our liberty. Let me explain. The federal govt now provides for our birth control, our health care. It provides food for us to eat. Our public schools are funded by the Federal Govt. If we go to college, the Federal govt lends us the money, when we buy a house, they lend us the money. If we buy a car, the Federal Govt gives us incentives to buy the type of car they feel is best for us. If we decided to farm our land, the Federal Govt controls what we plant or raise, and how and if we use the water on our land. If we decide to drill for oil, the Federal Govt has a say in our doing so, just as they do if we choose to mine for minerals on our own land. When we travel the interstate highway system, OR on our state's highways, the FEDERAL GOVT controls the speed limit we can drive by setting standards a State must adhere to or lose Federal funding (funding that came from the citizens living in the state to begin with). The Federal Govt regulates the MPG of the cars we might want to buy, as if we were too stupid to buy a car that best fit our economic abilities, with their CAFE standards. The Federal Govt controls the age we can retire, how much money we can make after we retire, through it's power to tax.
I find all of that control more than a little frighting. And Liberals today want more. And none of this bothers or concerns you?

You may not be aware of this but Bill Ayers and his friends in the 60's were domestic terrorists who were fearful of the ever reaching of the Federal Govt into their lives. The Underground Weathermen blew up people and buildings in their quest for freedom from being told what to do or think by the Federal Govt. Do you find it strange that now these very same people are demanding more Federal Gov programs in the lives of Americans? Demanding more govt control? That these domestic terrorist are now being asked to speak before students at University's, as well as teach in the? These people were murders.

Yet if a conservative is asked to speak at a University, the left does all they can to prevent them from using their freedom of speech. It is that twisted that former murders are paid and invited to speak but if a Conservative Black Christian is invited, pressure is put on the schools administration to prevent him from speaking. As if what they would have to say would be more dangerous. What I feel is dangerous is the chance a student might change their mind if they heard another point of view.
any
Name one thing that the Federal Govt today does not have some say or influence in. The only thing the Federal Govt allows us liberty is in our choice of sexual preference and abortion.

And "I'm shocked you didn't bring up abortion again." Would you like me to respond with a comment about abortion since it was you, Mozart, who brought up the subject?

Thus, there were about 51 full-time workers for each worker collecting disability. In April 2013, with a record 8,865,586 American workers collecting disability and 116,053,000 working full-time, there were only 13 Americans working full-time for each worker on disability.

FDR eh? Visit there often eh? WW2 saved FDR's legacy. FDR used an executive order and the war powers act to STEAL the gold of Americans in the 1930's by using an old socialist label trick: He called them "HOARDERS." Yep! The holding of gold was made illegal. So everyone turned in the gold that they had earned and FDR gave them paper NOTES in exchange. About 1 year later he declared the value of the gold about twice the value of the notes--effectively screwing Americans out of half the value. Of course today the legacy of notes lives on and people assume they're "a dollar". Little do they realize those FEDERAL RESERVE NOTES they call dollars are about a federal as federal express and are now declared by the federal reserve to have no value. The sum total of this FIAT currency legacy is the cruelest of hoax's on the elderly who were taught to scrimp and save only to have what they saved worth nothing due to inflation--yet not be able to work to replace it.
