In fact, I've always liked Joe Biden. What's not to like? It must also be said that it's a nice thing to not wake up suddenly in the middle of the night in a cold sweat knowing that the White House is not being occupied by a psychologically deranged, intellectually deficient president who is capable inflicting so much damage on our country.

I was never nostalgic for Bush, and I never really supported Sanders. (I'm still behind AL Franken though he's done)
Biden was never my first choice but I like him a lot. I think he's doing a great job, considering the mess he was left. Like Obama the GOP drove the car into the ditch, slashed the tires and filled the interior with mice.

So Republicans and "conservatives" pull out things like 'They're trying to ram this through...' or 'They're shoving this down America's throat...' or other bleating complaints. So Dems have to play politics with a moderate hand, because they suffer electorally even when they talk about reasonable things like raising taxes to have money to pay for things or when they want to improve or extend services to a group of people being underserved by our Capitalist system ("Grrr, Socialist takeover of ______!").
It's unfair, but it's the result of 40 years of "conservative" dominance of the media. The Rush Limbaughs of conservative media have provided a daily and weekly diet of why "Libruls" are monsters and cultivated and encouraged group consensus (not even group thought, because there's no thought. You're told) that they proudly proclaim: "Mega Dittos!"
So Dems have to play politics with half their brain tied behind their back, lest Republican votes feel threatened and challenged and insignificant and inadequate and any other number of insecurities they've been taught to have.

Prices rise on products when there is a demand that cannot easily be met.
Fewer products were produced during the quarantine Trump caused (at least the length of it) with his indifference and ineptitude.
Therefore there is a SHORTAGE of many products, especially building materials here in Iowa after the derecho last year when tens of thousands had structural damage to homes and businesses.
Go figure prices on plywood, shingles, etc. went up.

Just days ago, a U.S. military analysis reported by ABC News predicted that Kabul could fall within 90 days — not by the weekend.
“This is a crisis of untold proportions,” Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) told NBC News Sunday as Taliban militants swept into Kabul. “This is an intelligence failure. We underestimated the Taliban and overestimated the resolve of the Afghan Army.”
But numerous U.S. officials tell ABC News that the opposite was true, insisting that key intelligence assessments had consistently informed policymakers that the Taliban could overwhelm the country and take the capital within weeks — essentially repeating the 1975 fall of Saigon, when helicopters hastily evacuated diplomats from the U.S. embassy’s rooftop as the North Vietnamese Army stormed into the South Vietnam capital.
“[U.S.] leaders were told by the military it would take no time at all for the Taliban to take everything,” an anonymous U.S. intelligence official told ABC News. “No one listened.”
A senior congressional official who asked not to be named in order to discuss sensitive briefings told ABC News that intelligence officers had warned the U.S. leaders about a swift and total victory by the fundamentalist Taliban militants who had held power in Kabul during the late 1990s up until after the Sept. 11 attacks.
“The intelligence community assessment has always been accurate; they just disregarded it,” the official told ABC News, speaking about the Biden administration.

“I think President Biden has come up with a careful and thought-out plan,” Schumer replied. “Look, John, the president doesn’t want endless wars. I don’t want endless wars. And neither do the American people. And it’s refreshing to have a thought-out plan with a set timetable instead of the president waking up one morning, getting out of bed and saying what just pops into his head and then the generals having walked it back. So I think this is a careful, thought-out plan.”
Intelligence officials repeatedly warned Joe Biden that the Afghan government would collapse if he pulled out. Biden ignored those warnings.

Withdrawing in winter, instead of summer, would likely have led to a different outcome, especially if the withdrawal had been planned well and that plan executed in concert with our NATO allies.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - A new poll shows the number of Americans who do not approve of President Biden’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic may be growing.
According to the latest poll from Quinnipiac University, 53 percent of people surveyed said they approve of how the president handled the pandemic. But that’s a 12 percent drop from May, when 65 percent of people approved.
Biden’s overall job approval rating was mixed, with 46 percent approving, compared to 43 percent disapproving. That’s also a drop from May, when 49 percent approved, compared to 41 disapproving.

Report Reveals Just How Much Biden Lied to Us on Afghanistan
The Department of Defense Office of Inspector General released its quarterly Operation Freedom's Sentinel report to Congress on Tuesday, providing "background about events leading up to recent, significant and fast moving developments in Afghanistan."
The 98-page report reveals what the Pentagon knew about Afghan security forces' capabilities and the threats posed by the Taliban and other terrorist groups in the country. What it shows is that the Biden administration knew that the events of the last few weeks were not only possible but were likely to take place. The report is peppered with DIA intelligence and media reporting that showed the Afghan forces couldn't ward off Taliban aggression without U.S. and coalition support, yet the Biden administration responded with surprise as the Taliban took one provincial capital after another and last weekend arrived in Kabul.
As the IG report outlines, the Biden administration knew that the Afghan forces were unlikely to succeed in slowing or stopping the Taliban's advance, it knew the Taliban had its sights set on Kabul, and it knew that the Taliban was only engaged in political negotiations to seek legitimacy but planned to step up its military offensive to take the country by force. It also warned that plans for Kabul's Hamid Karzai International Airport were likely insufficient due to a complicated agreement with Turkish forces.

“Congress was told repeatedly that the Afghan Defense and Security Forces were up to the task, that it had the troops, equipment and willingness to fight,” Mr. Menendez said. “To see this army dissolve so quickly after billions of dollars in U.S. support is astounding. The American and Afghan people clearly have not been told the truth.”
Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.), a close Biden ally, said that while the U.S. military shouldn’t have stayed “indefinitely,” the drawdown “should have been carefully planned to prevent violence and instability, and to ensure that the hard-fought progress gained over the past two decades—particularly when it comes to Afghan women and girls—would not be lost.”
Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), who is up for reelection next year, added that “the rapidly deteriorating situation in Afghanistan reveals a failure to prepare for a scenario where the Afghan government and military would refuse to fight the Taliban’s advances when put to the test.”

Note that this reporter is asking Biden if he will send troops out into Kabul to evacuate Americans who haven’t been able to get to the airport safely. This will be important in a minute.
So in his response, Biden is putting all of his faith in the Taliban, claiming that they are letting Americans through to the airport safely. But of course this isn’t true and we’ve been reporting on it all week.
Biden was challenged on this answer here by a different reporter from NPR, who told Biden that this doesn’t square with the images we are seeing at the airport and the reporting from reporters in Kabul who are describing chaos and violence. He asks Biden “are you saying unequivocally that any American who wants to get to the airport is getting there?”
Biden responds by saying: “I thought the question was how can they get through to the airport outside the airport.”
But that’s clearly not true. The prior reporter was asking him if he’d authorize sending troops into Kabul to evacuate Americans who haven’t been able to get to the airport. That question couldn’t have been more clear and his answer was clearly a response to it. But now Biden claims he thought the question was about getting people into the airport who are already outside the airport????
I don’t know whether Biden is only lying or if his dementia is also kicking in. But his answer here is abysmal. He got called on the carpet for his lies and he ran away from it like he was a gazelle being chased by a lion.
On Biden’s answer to the original question, an ABC News reported called it breathtaking, noting that they had Americans in Kabul telling them last night that they could not get to the airport:

Have you seen Biden’s past two addresses on the matter and how his spin doctors have tried to polish this fiasco? They knew the nation could collapse. There were intelligence reports and State Department memos written throughout the summer. They were either ignored or not believed. Either way, they weren’t taken seriously which has led to the utter mayhem at the airport in Kabul right now. We have thousands of Americans still trapped in the country. They’re being beaten by the Taliban. And now we’re telling them it’s not safe to venture out since ISIS and other radical Islamic terrorists are on the prowl. To top it all off, we’re now in a position where we have to trust the Taliban with the security of our citizens to the airport. You cannot make this up. And now we learn from a leaked memo that Biden promised our European allies that Kabul would remain secure. We would have enough of a security presence there. This was promised in June—wrong.
If this is Trump's plan and if it is so bad, why didn't Biden change it into something better, like he's changed so many other "bad" Trump policy's?

Can America Survive Another Three Years, Five Months of President Joe Biden?
There’s no masking the titanic failure of Joe Biden’s presidency behind partisan name-calling or spinning the defeats by his sycophants in the media. Joe Biden’s incompetence is on display for all the world to see.
This frightens America’s allies and delights our enemies. At home, some Republicans are calling for Biden to resign, but until Democrats rise up and demand Biden leaves office, those GOP congressmen are just spitting in the wind. And Democrats have made it clear that they are willing to walk off the cliff with Biden come what may.
