A state run propaganda television network run by Donald Trump? Call it a silly hunch on my part but I don't think that this is a particularly good idea. State TV is something usually associated with Russia or China - not the United States of America. Having said that, I do hope that it does indeed comes to fruition. Let's face it, folks, something like that would be an absolute howl, and would only offer volumes of material for people like me. Can you imagine? Watching grownups trying to put a smiley face on the carcass of a decomposing pig is always oodles of fun. That's what makes Fox Noise (Sean Hannity and Fox and Friends in particular) such a scream to watch. This morning woman named Clara Wilson from Bloomington, Indiana made an excellent suggestion in a comment on my Facebook page. She said that such an entity be called "TPN" (Trump Propaganda Network). Good one, Clara!State TV in America? What the hell! He's already has the imbeciles over at Fox doing his idiotic bidding 24/7. Voice of America has been around for seventy-six years and they're broadcast reaches the entire planet earth. I have to wonder if this isn't merely the first step toward their goal of crushing every other broadcast organization that provides news and information (with the exception of Fox, of course) to the American people. Am I being paranoid? Perhaps I am. It sure will be interesting to see what this country will look like after eight years - or more of a Trump administration. I am tempted here to say that his reelection in 2020 is never going to happen but I need to check myself. As late as September of 2016 I said that the election of Donald Trump to the office of the presidency was "never going to happen". I know now better. We all know better.

If The Donald is really serious about getting his proposed state propaganda network going, he'd better get cracking - and fast! In a little over a month the House will be back in control of the Democratic party and there is no way in hell they're going to vote to fund such a completely moronic, and possibly unconstitutional idea. The First Amendment mentions nothing about the right of the government to spew political propaganda. I just thought I would point that out.
I never dreamed that Idiot Nation, doomed as it undoubtedly was, would sink to this level of depravity . I was wrong on too many levels to count. In a manner of sorts, we have long had a state run TV station. It's called PBS. It is largely subsidized by the tax payers and typically has a left wing bias.
Let us not forget NPR either for the radio waves. (National Politburo Radio) And it is absolutely a leftist mouth piece subsidized with tax payer money.
For the record, I think Trump TV is as horrible an idea as PBS and NPR both are.
As for your musings about Laura Ingrahm, I have to say that the last time I heard the N-word ACTUALLY uttered on national TV, it was done by that "statesman" of the senate and former KKK Democratic Icon Senator Byrd.

Tom, these are dreaded times. As I've written several times on this blog, we're in the midst of a generational Fourth Turning.
We're positioned about halfway through this dreaded time, so please don't drown yourself in the bottle...yet. There's way too much work to be done.

... is something someone says who has never watched PBS or listened to NPR and only hears negative things about them from their right-wing bubble. Antiques Roadshow leaning a little too Commie for your liking? All those British Dramas and Baking Shows making you feel self conscious vis a vis NHS? Local issues shows and local productions given a platform just rubs you the wrong way?

Missed the time Bill Maher said it, I guess? Good on you for keeping the 8 years dead Senator Byrd in the political zeitgeist. Relevent. When's the last time Senator Byrd threw the Nazi salute on national television? Maybe Laura might know.
Mr. Paine's false equivalence and clearly biased accusations against PBS and NPR are typical from those indoctrinated by FOX(R), Sinclair Broadcasting, Limbaugh, and far Right websites, which is truly Trump's state media.
NEVER had the public networks been as totally biased and in the tank for one president and party.

Public broadcasting is the term, BTW. And it has been gutted by ideological Republicans and forced to depend on corporate sponsors.
