Please, Mr. Postman

He's clinically insane. Admit it already.

"Absentee ballots are fine because you have to go through a precise process to get your voting privilege. Not so with Mail-Ins. Rigged Election!!!

Since American history is hardly taught in American schools any longer, I suppose that a little lesson on that subject might definitely be in order here.

First of all (and I'm stunned that this needs to be explained to some people) absentee ballots and mail-in ballots are the same damned thing. They're not mutually exclusive. They've been around since the Civil War when President Lincoln - at the urging of Theodore Roosevelt, Sr. (father of the future president) decided that it would be a good thing if the Union boys, fighting on battlefields all across the confederacy, should be able exert their right to have their precious ballots cast. It was a brave thing for old Abe to do. Many of those soldiers were not too happy about being away from their homes and families, facing death at every minute on almost every day, and it was not-at-all certain that they would support the commander-in-chief. They did. Lincoln would not have won reelection in 1864 without them.

So there you have it, class: mail-in/absentee ballots have been around for one-hundred and fifty-six years. The tradition has never been a problem before. Why all of the sudden has it become a problem in the year 2020? The truth of the matter is that  Donald Trump regularly casts his ballot by mail from Maralago, his private club in Florida - or wherever-the-hell in the world he happens to be on any given Election Day. In fact, the only time the demented old freak ever voted at a regular polling place was in 2016 when he was a candidate for president (photo-op, you know?) He doesn't usually lower himself to participate in democracy by getting in line with  the common and filthy masses. This is a man with privilege. Would one of his apologists please explain to me why voting-by-mail is  okay for him but not for the rest of us? It's called Hypocrisy on Parade.

Trump has been saying that if the mail-in process is allowed to go through, it will be months - maybe even years - before the result of the November election is known. He seems to be implying that he won't be able to vacate the White House - unless and until - the matter is settled. What this idiot is unaware of is the fact that - according to the Constitution of the United States - regardless of when the final tally comes in, if there is no clear winner on the scheduled day of the election, the office of the presidency is automatically turned over to the speaker of the House of Representatives on the day of the inauguration. It's as clear and as simple as that. And although I have more-than-a-few issues with her, I'll be able to sleep quite soundly at night knowing that President Pelosi is at the helm of the ship-of-state. Whatever happens as a result of the corruption of the process on a national level, I'm almost certain that it won't be quite so chaotic in her state of California. Call it a gut feeling if you will.

The Donald tells us that, thanks to the able brilliance of Governor Ron Desantis, Florida will be the only state in the union where mail-in ballots will be reliable. This tells me that the Sunshine State has already been thoroughly corrupted and that the fix is in - just as it was twenty years ago when the election was stolen from Al Gore by Governor Jeb Bush and the presidency was seized by his half-witted, frat boy brother from Crawford, Texas. Remember how nicely that worked out?

DeJoy
The current postmaster general is a political hack and Trump fundraiser named Louis DeJoy. His stated goal has been to do away with the American postal system as we know it and turn it over to private industry. That's what Trump has been doing since his first day in office: putting people at the head of government agencies whose sole purpose is to destroy those very agencies. This is what can only be described as conflicts-of-interest-on-steroids. These corrupt and incompetent bastards have already slowed our mail service down to a trickle of what it was before the Common-Pervert-from-Queens took office a mere three-and-a-half years ago. Don't be the least bit surprised if, by Election Day, they make an attempt to shut the entire postal system down completely. The day that the United States Post Office goes into private ownership will be the day the American Experiment is over. Keep voting Republican.

This is as bad as it's been since Abraham Lincoln sought to extend the voting franchise to servicemen fighting to preserve a union that seemed to be in the process of complete self-destruction. Even during the darkest days of Dubya, I never thought we'd come this close to totalitarianism. In fact, we're already there. On Election Day 2020, we can expect Trump's operatives to stage "incidents" in swing-state cities with heavy black populations that will give him an excuse to send his own private brown-shirts into those cities to crack down with violence and mandatory curfews. That's what Portland was all about: a grim harbinger of even nastier things to come. Keep your eyes open.

This is bad, folks.

Yes he needs to be admitted somewhere, but who would want the orange sludge wearing psycho as a patient? And now he has announced a Trump convention shitshow to be held on the South Lawn of the White House. But the good news is you won't have to wear a Mask!

Too bad the Hatch Act has no teeth (enforceability).

Tom, I will admit when you first started to suggest that Trump would delay or cancel the election I thought that this was never going to happen, and it was verging on a conspiracy theory territory.

I was wrong.

I now am sure you are 100% correct. There will be voter fraud on a breath-taking scale: voters will inexplicably be purged from the electoral role, millions of postal votes will be "delayed" or lost, polling stations in Democratic leaning areas will be closed and thugs will be out in force to intimidate or deny voters their chance to vote.

Assuming COVID-19 is not so bad that Trump declares a National Emergency a few days before the election and cancels it. All planned, of course.

When I read about what is happening in the US my heart breaks. Be strong people, and ensure Biden wins by such an overwhelming landslide that no amount of fraud will change the result.

Then prosecute and jail the traitors and criminals. No "let's meet them on the middle ground" any more. There is no middle ground, they are not interested in compromise or what is best of the US. Even if it takes years, go after every last one of them.

I hope the Democrats have already formulated a strategy on how to fight voter corruption, prosecute the criminals, completely reform the police and model it on a UK-style community and consensus model, change the rules about political appointments to SCOTUS and sack the corrupt incumbents, and reform, reform, reform. It can't go on like before. The gloves have to be off from day one and the sociopaths need to be utterly purged from public life.

This is your last chance, US. Business as usual will be the death of your democracy.

Aw, look at Majormajor projecting their deflection onto me. It's adorable.

3 Months until the election and rather than address actual issues with our President Installing his failing shipping executive as Post Master General and intentionally hamstringing this crucial, Constitutionally Mandated service... Fans of this President want to focus on failures or perceived problems that normally do not care about rather than address how to deal with them.

4% fail rate? Let's scrap the whole idea, rather than try to fix the f'ing thing. Majormajor/JTF clearly believe that Republicans can not win when more people have access to voting, so let's hide behind blaming a hamstrung governmental service. What a sad place to be, Majormajor/JTF. But, hey, The President says mail-in voting is fine in places with a Republican governor. That's not fishy or disingenuous at all! Just like "conservative" concern about election fraud and integrity when faced with the prospect of more people voting via mail isn't fishy or disingenuous.

I wonder how Majormajor/JTF got his voter ID?
How about his drivers license?
How about his prescriptions?
Surely not in the mail, amirite?

In 2006 the Republicans mandated that the post office set aside in five Billion dollars a year an escrow account for future retirees benefits till the year 2075, It was an obvious attempt to bankrupt the Post office and kill the union even though the PO does not get any federal money.
The PO must have 50 to 60 Billion laying around that they cannot touch and when the PO came up with ten different ways to expand their income like check cashing and payday loans, with out the 400% interest, the Republicans denied them.

So now they come up with a 10 Billion LOAN that will bankrupt the PO because of all the fine print when every other country pays to have a working postal system.

The treasonous Republicans just gave 10 Trillion to Wall ST but the PO has to pay insane interest on a loan!

Joe Biden says that he believes prosecuting a former president would be a "very unusual thing and probably not very ... good for democracy," but he would not stand in the way of a future Justice Department pursuing criminal charges against President Trump after he leaves office.

The comments from the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee came during a virtual interview Tuesday with members from the National Association of Black Journalists and National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

"Look, the Justice Department is not the president's private law firm. The attorney general is not the president's private lawyer. I will not interfere with the Justice Department's judgment of whether or not they think they should pursue the prosecution of anyone that they think has violated the law," Biden told NPR's Lulu Garcia-Navarro.

What could possibly go wrong?? Nevada Sent More Than 200K Mail-In Primary Ballots to Wrong Addresses

"What could possibly go wrong??"

Sounds like the board of elections in Nevada needs to better monitor their voting registration rolls and better educate its populace to update their information when they move or a family member passes away. If you actually read the article and its sole source, a Conservative Legal Group's report, it'd pretty clear the fault isn't in the USPS, but in Nevada officials not keeping up on their voter logs. You can't blame the postal service for trying to deliver mail to the address the board of elections told them to send it. That's like blaming the baseball for the pitcher throwing it into the dirt.

Better work to disenfranchise everyone who could benefit from Vote by Mail in the middle of a freaking Pandemic rather than take the next couple of months to remedy this completely surmountable issue, right "conservatives"? That's the American, Can-Do attitude that got us to the Moon.

Now excuse me while I clean out all the cookies and spyware all those "conservative" websites installed in my browser.

Here is an article detailing Trump stealing Syria's oil. Trump has always been a serial thief, stealing the wages of thousands of tradesmen and contractors for decades. Now he is doing it on a international scale, trying to drain the life blood out of Syria and starve the people.

Conservatives dismissed his thievery like it did not matter but he never should of been allowed to run for president, he is the king of slime balls.

Well, Anon, the Nevada Secretary of State is the one who is in charge of Nevada elections and the current Secretary of State, not to make it political or anything, is a Republican.

This is actually information easily obtainable with the briefest of internet searches, so I'm assuming your question wasn't actually one posed in good faith. You're just fighting to fight at this point, right?

Civics, man. The "right" whines about how history is taught in school and I feel like there should be greater emphasis on civics and how our government actually works. Everyone could also do with a reminder that Government isn't the same as Politics.
