Snakes

There just cannot be any two ways about it. We've been told too many times to count that "THIS" is the most important election in our history. I would beg to differ. The election of 1864 between Lincoln and McClellan was up there. The election of Donald Trump in 2016 was the trigger that led us to the financial catastrophe we are about to suffer. But the election of 2018 is something else entirely. Isn't life wonderful?

This is a poem than the Donald liked to recite during the campaign two years ago. It is quoted in  the new book by Bob Woodward, "Fear":

On her way to work one morning, down the path, along the lake,
a tender-hearted woman saw a poor, half hearted frozen snake
His pretty-colored skin had been all frosted with the dew.
"Poor thing," she cried, "I'll take you in. And I'll take care of you."
"take me in, oh  tender woman," sighed the vicious snake.
She wrapped him up all cozy in a comforter of silk,
and laid him by her fireside with some honey and some milk.
She hurried home from work that night, and soon as she arrived,
she found that pretty snake she had taken in had been revived....
She stroked his pretty skin again, and kissed and held him tight.
But instead of saying thank you, the snake gave her a vicious bite.
"I saved you" cried the woman,"
And you've bitten me, heavens why?
"You know your bite is poisonous, and now I'm going to die."
"Oh, shut up, silly woman", said the reptile with a grin.
"You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in."

Keep voting Republican,

Idiot Nation. Stupid fucking Americans.

AFTERTHOUGHT:

A few nights ago I watched a videotape of the 1960 debates between Jack Kennedy and Dick Nixon. When it was over I was floored by the realization that this country has been so completely and thoroughly dumbed-down in the ensuing fifty-eight years. Look up on YouTube the debates of 1960 and 2016 and make the comparisons for yourselves. We really have become Idiot Nation.

I can only say that if we don't turn the House in November.

"this country has been so completely and thoroughly dumbed-down in the ensuing fifty-eight years" Tom, since you have not acknowledged how wrong you were about your claim that President Trump is "an unindicted co-conspirator", can we assume you are one of the dumbed-down, stupid Americans you talk about.

That being the case, can we believe anything else you claim is factual?

Chuck, Trump IS an unindicted co-conspirator. Try to avoid making yourself looking as idiotic as you did a few years ago when you kept insisting that the term "congress" did not include the Senate.

I forgot all about that one! LOL

"...some are calling Trump an ‘unindicted co-conspirator’ in the federal crimes. The term is defined as a person who is alleged in an indictment to have engaged in a criminal conspiracy, but who was not charged in the same indictment. Although Cohen didn’t explicitly mention Trump in his admission, he said that he committed the crimes with 'a candidate for federal office,' which is almost certainly a reference to the president." ~~ Was Trump a Co-Conspirator? Here's What the Term Means, by Stephen Johnson, Big Think, August 22, 2018

Vern, try reading something besides rightwing blogs and alt-right white supremacist sites. You might learn something. Something based in reality, anyway.

Tom, I guess you are more educated, smarter than liberal professor Alan Dershowitz?

"The president is "an unindicted co-conspirator" Tom Degan

"Before this claim is repeated so often that people assume it is true (like Tom), let me state categorically that Trump is not an unindicted co-conspirator and that it is wrong to characterize him as such. An unindicted co-conspirator is someone against whom a grand jury has found probable cause, on the basis of evidence, that he or she is guilty of being a co-conspirator in a crime. But as far as we know there has been no grand jury indictment in this case, because Cohen waived the grand jury and pleaded guilty to “an information” prepared by a prosecutor, not a grand jury. An information is used in federal trials generally when a defendant voluntarily pleads guilty and waives the right of an indictment by a grand jury. So unless there is a secret indictment against Cohen, accusing Trump of being his co-conspirator, Trump cannot be an unindicted co-conspirator. Moreover, the information against Cohen did not include the allegation by Cohen that he was directed to pay hush money by the candidate. That self-serving accusation was made by Cohen in his statement to the judge.

So it cannot be the basis for a conclusion that Trump is an unindicted co-conspirator."

Alan Dershowitz is an American lawyer and academic. He is a scholar of United States constitutional law and criminal law, and a noted civil libertarian. He spent most of his career at Harvard Law School where in 1967, at the age of 28, he became the youngest full professor of law in its history. He is a liberal, but not a leftist.

And Tom you originally said "A president who is now under criminal investigation for possible treason should not be nominating anyone to the Supreme Court", but changed that when you realized that was not true. Moving goal posts much?

Jeff,

Try to be relevant instead of DD's lap dog.

Stephen Johnson is a St. Louis-based writer whose work has appeared in U.S. News & World Report, The Huffington Post, Eleven Magazine, Cheapism, Vox Magazine, The Missourian and other publications. Are you stupid enough to think Johnson knows more about the law than Alan Dershowitz?

The simple answer is, yes you are.

“That self-serving accusation was made by Cohen in his statement to the judge.”...under sworn oath.

Dershowitz is also a self-serving, biased, personal friend of Trump.

Here is the legal definition.

An unindicted conspirator (or co-conspirator) is a person or entity that is identified by a law enforcement agency as a member of a conspiracy, but who is not charged in the indictment charging his/her/its fellow conspirators with conspiracy.

Time for facts.

https://definitions.uslegal.com/u/unindicted-conspirator/

Trump was identified under sworn oath as a conspirator in a crime. This is a fact. The testimony is on record within a law enforcement agency and a court. Therefore he is an alleged unindicted co-conspirator. Also likely in fact. Trump is also an alleged cheater, crook and liar. He has been alleged to have actively obstructed justice. All true, but not proven in court yet. He is also a racist. His racist discrimination was addressed in a court and he was ordered TWICE to rent to blacks.

The claims that democrats are a violent “mob”, and “liberals are commies who hate America” are far more dishonest and untruthful than calling Trump a crook. Trump admitted to and bragged about criminal sexual conduct.

Republicans are the enemies of truth and democracy. Trump and voter suppression by his party are the clear evidence.

Vern, I'm sure Tom Degan doesn't claim to understand constitutional law more than Alan Dershowitz, and neither do I.

But one thing I can do is name more legal scholars than you can name, whom would agree that, technically, Donald Trump is, indeed, an unnamed co-conspirator -- whether agreed upon by a grand jury or not.

Michael Cohen's plea only had the effect of skipping the "indictment" step. The net result is still the same: Trump's, still, by definition a non-indicted, and unnamed, co-conspirator, meaning he's been implicated in a conspiracy.

Sorry, but you're wrong again. Get your head out of Fox News and learn something. Your choice of networks is not only maintaining your ignorance level, but is proving Tom's theme of this post that you, and other deplorable Trumpists like you, are pushing this country into the realm of "Idiot Nation".

You've provided a huge dis-service to your nation. I'm sure you're very proud of yourself.

Sidebar: I took you up on your offer and made an attempt to meet you in Texas. I provided my flight info into DFW, yet you were not in baggage claim as I requested.

Were you too scared to confront me?...even in such a public space as an international airport?

Thought so...

Clucky, Mueller IS moving closer to Trump. WHY DO YOU THINK THEY NEEDED TO FAST TRACK KAVANAUGH? He's the one that said "sitting Presidents can't be indicted" and he just ruled in favor of denying native Americans their right to vote.

He's also on record supporting the idea that anyone pardoned for a federal crime cannot be charged by the state. Another way Trump can avoid prison.

Trump IS an unnamed co conspirator. The entire thing happened in his building with his sons in attendance. Are you saying he KNEW NOTHING of this? Is he not as in control of everything as he claims? LOL

The president must declassify the following for the sake of the American people:

The names of the private contractors to whom FBI Director Comey gave unlawful access to raw FISA data in 2015 — if not before — as shown in the opinion of FISC Chief Judge Rosemary Collyer in April 2017.

The Electronic Communication [EC] that the FBI claims started the “Russia collusion” investigation.

The full text of the still heavily redacted Page-Strzok text messages.

The Bruce Ohr FBI 302s.

All emails or texts among any government officials in any agency or the Obama White House that mention the Steele dossier, unmaskings of American citizens, or “Russia collusion” prior to your inauguration and thereafter until Mueller appointed Special Counsel.

All memos, FBI 302s, and emails indicating the targeting and interview of General Flynn once he joined the Trump team and any recording — oral, reported or written — of the remarks of Andrew McCabe that mention Flynn or Donald Trump.

All the FISA applications, including the ones the court first denied, that were based in any part on the “Steele dossier” and the names of all persons in the FBI or DOJ who worked on those applications.

The classified section of the Inspector General’s report regarding the pre-election conduct and leaks by the FBI and DOJ.

The laptop of Anthony Weiner on which the New York FBI agents reported seeing the “entire Clinton email file” — 675,000 emails.

All documents demanded by Congress that have not yet been produced and on which the FBI and DOJ continue to stonewall.

After all these are released, THEN the Presidents tax returns. Let the chips fall where they may.

Maybe the Left can register more ignorant hipsters, felons, illegal immigrants, and dead people to vote for their causes so we can overthrow "Idiot Nation".

That was when I truly knew Osama bin Laden was really dead. He was registered to vote Democrat in the last election. :)

Like the Democrats say, "Vote Early! Vote Often!"
